Face of the Night

Hey Everyone, I hope your weekend is going well so far. I just wanted to do a post about a couple of things.

First off, the look I did last night for a few drinks in town to celebrate my engagement to my lovely fiance Chris.
It's a very soft smokey eye, which I tend to go for since I have deep set eyes and anything too heavy or dark just makes me look tired. I think that's one of the most important things about make up. You need to learn what suits you and don't follow trends in makeup if they don't look right on you. The whole point is to accentuate your features.

For my face I used a base of Mac Strobe Liquid, then I applied Revlon Colourstay in True Beige, YSL Touche Eclat and Estee Launder Disappear Smoothing Concealer in Light. I finished off with Bourjois eyeshadow in Blanc Diaphane applied to my cheekbones, down my nose and on my brow bones. It's a gorgeous opalescent white colour which gives a candlelit glow, similar to that of Nars Albatross Highlighter.

I used a base of Lancome Colour Dose in 207, which is a beautiful metallic silver with amazing pigmentation. Then I applied Mac Print eyeshadow in the crease and outer corners, with Mac Carbon in the very outer edges and along the lashline. I applied Mac Penultimate Liquid Liner only along the top lashline and softened it with some more Mac Carbon. I find that it suits me to only apply it to the upper lashline as any dark colour under my eyes just emphasises any dark circles. I would love to be able to get away with a sultry deep smokey eye lined all the way with black liner, but as I said before, if it doesn't suit you, then it's best to stick to what flatters your face. I finished off the look by highlighting the inner corners of my eye with Bourjois eyeshadow in Blanc Diaphane to open up my eyes a bit.

I used YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in Lingerie Pink with Lancome Star lipgloss in 208 which creates a lovely soft pink colour.

I don't know about you, but I'm loving bubblegum pink nail polish at the moment (I go through phases!). This is Barry M polish in Bright Pink which is a really fun Barbie Pink colour I wore last night...love it! I like the contrast with my chunky black patent Steve Madeen platforms.
On another note, my fiance took me on a mystery day out today for our two year anniversary and I was completely in the dark about what we were doing until we got there. We drove down to Loch Lomond (about 3 hours from where we live) and he had booked a luxury cruiser/yacht to cruise around the loch! It was so plush and we felt like millionnaires for the day! We had an amazing lunch with champagne as we soaked up all the beautiful scenery. It was such a lovely relaxing day!

Fashion + Home Decor. = Joy!!

I bought these two limited ed. prints last weekend and luckily found I-think-they-match frames for both at Michael store.

You must be wondering how come this artichoke is burgundy color instead what we normally had in USA.
Ah~ you have a great color instinct then. This is what they have in Rome. "The artichoke is indigenous to the Mediterranean region and was first recorded in Italy around 1400."- Flavor of Rome.com. I was told that both green and this wine color artichokes taste the same ~ delicious!!

Here I hang them on our formal dinning room!! Where esle could be a better place for them!!! :)

Then I had these two hand-crafted dancing fairies which is made in Canada from couple years back. I bought them at a craft store in Los Gates. Whenever I look at them, they give me a whimsical piece of quiet moment! The first fairy has a buttery wing and the bottom one has a pair of bird's wing. They both are beautifully crafted from brass. You also can see the swirl reflected on their body from lights.

This one might be an angle since she has a halo!

w/ little decor. our foyer instantly gives our guests a warm welcome! :)

This foyer separates our living room and family room!

I love collecting things. From paintings, drawing, etchings and even sculptures. I know most of people think it takes fortune to keep up a hobby like that but it really isn't the case. I bought that two prints of strawberry and artichoke for $30 and $48 respectively w/ total $20 off discount from the artist, Linda. For me, they are priceless, and I said the artist even gave me her original artichoke mold which will be one of a kind!!! So if things I collected didn't increase the value, my family and I will enjoy those beautiful things for many years to come. I believe that if you collect things that you like, not just that will enhance your home, and life, but also nurture your family's appreciation of small things surrounding them!!

Today is a holiday, DH still has to work. I have no motivation taking kids out alone so I decided to clean our house, move some furniture around for a refreshing look.

I was eyeing a pair of boots from MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA these days. However, while every site/department store is having their final end of season sale, I felt that I might just wait a bit and pair the shoes I had!!

MY ODJ.

1. TOP:
  • American Apparel white tank
  • Neil Barrett black sheer ruched blouse
2. BOTTOM: Washed jeans w/ bead decor.
3. ACCESSORY: Fallon cross chain necklace w/ crystal, cone charm
4. SHOES:
Stella Luna patent black gladiator heels

Christian Louboutin studded booties

Max Mara studded platform clog

My personal favorite is this platform clog from Max Mara. I think I have to bring back this beaded jeans for a even tailored look in the future!!! :)

Happy 4th of July, everyone!!!

A good combination for gorgeous legs

After coming back from my holiday last week, I noticed my tan was quickly fading by the day. Unfortunately the heat wave we are experiencing in the UK at the moment has come during the week when everyone is at work all day, hence no chance of topping up the tan (safely with lotion of course!). So, I had to take action and find a way of being able to proudly display my legs in public without fear of having an uneven or patchy tan...why does that always happen when it fades???Very annoying! I wanted golden pins and I wanted them fast!

The solution came when I combined 2 products:
  • 1) The new Loreal Sublime Bronze One Day which is a tinted gel that can be washed off at the end of the day (as the name suggests).

2) Mac Face and Body Foundation in C4 which is water based so it dries quickly and blends in very easily.

When you combine these two products (two thirds Sublime Bronze to one third Mac Body Foundation) they give your legs a golden natural tan. You also get a lovely sheen down your shin which is very slimming - you gotta love that! The great thing about mixing the two products is that you can tailor the depth of the colour to whatever you like.

I think this is great if, like me, you're holding onto a holiday tan or you've got somewhere to go and forgot to apply self tanner the night before. Try it out for yourself and let me know how you get on!

Contest!

I was going to wait until I had 100 followers before I did a contest but I was so excited about the idea I had that I'm just going to run it now!

I am going to be running a Miss World Contest so I want you girls to get glammed up big style...we're talkin big hair, falsies (can be lashes or boobs, your choice!) spangly dresses, fake smiles, tiaras, sashes, the lot!

I will be running the contest for a month starting today so the closing date will be 3 August. I wanted to keep it open for a while so everyone had a chance to enter it. All you have to do is get yourself glamourised, take a pic and post it on your blog and tell me what your talent is and why you should be Miss World- remember to let me know so I can take a look!

I hope everyone has a go at this coz I think it will be really good fun. I am going to get together amazing prizes over the next month and in true Miss World tradition, there will be an overall winner and then 2 runner ups. Good luck ladies!
