Friendship and Fashion!

My daughter's classmates have been asking so many times about play-dates but it is seems not likely to arrange it during the weekdays! The weekend and birthday parties are the only chance to let our kids socialize w/ their school buddies.

While kids slowly establish their little friendship w/ their school buddies, friends from parent's circles, we moms also need to manage and expand our own social lives. However, it is so hard to synchronize our moms' free time during the week, even though kids all go to school.  We still need to drive them in between extra-curriculum activities after school, let alone we all have our own set of schedules/rules/routines/work-out.... ^^

There must be millions birthday stars in January since there are at least 6 big and little friends of mine included. And we decided to do a little breakfast birthday celebration for them.

Wherever there is women, there is fashion and beauty talk!!! ^^

Funny thing is that we start talking about lip colors and everyone begins to pull out their secret beauty weapons from cosmetic bags. lol
(The winner? Cathy!!
She got the most NUDE colors from Tom Ford, YSL, LORAC, and Cle de paux!)

For a moment there, I had a deja vous.(Cathy and I both bought this mustard/gray cape coats.) You know what's so odd in this middle picture of her.... she layered two same yellow-colored long-tee and turtle-neck to keep her warm~~ my, genius. haha...

(far-right, Lorac lip gloss... looks like a nail polish and behind it is Tom Ford lipstick w/ white/gold square case $45 !)

I haven't seen Pei carry her 08' Chanel metallic silver reissue for a very long time~~
(Far-right) Yu is very eagerly to know if the nude and orange lip color looks great on her. ^^

Menswear Collections Fall/Winter 2011--Milan: DSquared2, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci

Man Style Fall 2011: 60s/70s Stylings, UBER-fitted Double-Breasted/Cropped Jackets, Drop-crotch Pants and "High-Waters"...

Shrunken Double: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011 Shrunken double-breasted pinstripe suit

The Menswear Collections for Fall/Winter 2011 are occurring as we speak in Europe. First Milan and now, they are happening in Paris. So, here are some of my "Nick Highlights" from the first stop: Milan. Want to know what you should be looking like--and the styles you should be wearing this Fall? Well, it's all below...get ready for Shrunken Fitted Jackets and MORE Drop-Crotch Pants.
Shall we begin:

DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2011:

Preacher Red Carpet: DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2011

Key Trends: Drop Crotch Pants; cropped pants; very fitted waistcoats (vests); over-hanging shirts; leather Tannery Worker aprons(?); worn jeans

Where Are My Ten Wives: DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2011

Themes: Pioneer Fashion,Southern (Sexy) Preachers and a dash of Gothic (at least for DSquared2!).

Tannery Chic: DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2011

Style.com's Tim Blanks ended his review on this note: "Lean, mean monochrome tailoring; skinny denims; judicious use of black leather detailing; hints of luxury in fur trims; and crystal-beaded waistcoats. It may just be enough to seduce their fan base, but today it felt like slim pickings for everyone else"

Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011:

Brit Mod Pop: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011

Key Trends: Very fitted SHRUNKEN/cropped jackets that end at "high hip" (about 2" above sleeve length); big shoes; drop-crotch pants; cropped pants "High Waters"; Double-breasted; black, slate-gray and red; suspenders.

LOOONG Crotch: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011

Themes:
Bryan Ferry Tailored Rocker Glam, "Come On Eileen" with Money
Happy Xmas 2011: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011

Here's a quote from Tim Blanks: "The clothes on the runway, though, were better suited to East End boys. Low-rise, multi-pocketed pants were slung off skinny suspenders. One model sported Freddy Krueger stripes and a trilby casually tossed back on his head. There was a spiffy edge to a checked, fitted, double-breasted jacket, while cropped, double-vented jackets and those pegged, low-slung pants created a boxy, bubble-butted silhouette that added beef to the already buff models"

Gucci Fall/Winter 2011:
Seat 2A British Airways: Gucci Fall/Winter 2011

Trends: Double-Breasted; Very Fitted; two-button jackets; polished; gray, light plum, blue, copper, bronzed colors; semi-skinny ties; fun pocket scarves; LOGO Carry-On Bags

Can You Hang My Coat: Gucci Fall/Winter 2011

Themes: Vintage Gucci Euro-Rocker Tailoring, late 60s-early 70s styling, Rod Stewart leaving Heathrow Airport traveling British Airways First Class in 1970.

Sharp Shoulder: Gucci Fall/Winter 2011

Tim Blanks from Style.com said this: "The cornerstone of the collection was a lean two-button suit, its trouser flaring slightly over the shoe. With Faces-era Rod Stewart croaking over the sound system, the connection with a vintage Gucci moment was inescapable"

Work It Out: Instalment Vingt-Sept

Sometimes it's better to keep it simple. When wearing monochrome it's always fun to spice it up with a pattern or a modern twist on an old classic.
Blouse: French Connection. Skirt and patent belt: M&S
How do you wear monochrome? xxx

Nick Verreos on TV Guide Network's "2011 Golden Globes Fashion Wrap": Photos from the Set and Full Video of the show!

It's a New Awards Season!!!
The Adams...I Mean "Fashion Wrap"...Family: (Clockwise L to R) Kara Birkenstock, Kim Vo, Nick Verreos, Jen Rade and Lawrence Zarian, 2011 Golden Globes Fashion Wrap

Last Sunday, as y'all (yes, I'm a "Southern Belle" at heart!) know, were the 68Th Annual Golden Globe Awards (Oh Ricky Gervais, you're so cheeky!) and as usual, the following Monday, it was time to give our Fashion "Hits" and "Misses", Best and Not-so-Good, on our TV Guide Network Golden Globes Fashion Wrap.
Early Monday morning, I got to the TV Guide studios--armed with my "cheat sheet" from all the fashion "Who Wore What" homework I had done the night before. Thank goodness, I had my NIKOLAKI--and nickverreos.com blogging partner--David Paul helping me out with HOURS upon HOURS of research.

Lofty: The TV Guide Fashion Wrap set, TV Guide Studios

The new set looked AMAZING, with a sleek black leather couch from one of my favorite furniture showrooms, HD Buttercup, minimalist Mid-Century looking tables, a new plushy rug, and a "view" of the Downtown Los Angeles skyline; it looked very "Downtown LA Loft".

I was excited to re-join my Fashion Team host-with-the-most, Lawrence Zarian, as well as my Fashion Team "girlfriend", Jen Rade who was fresh off of styling the STUNNING Angelina Jolie the night before in that Made-to-Order emerald green sequin paillette Versace Atelier gown. Also joining the "Fashion Wrap" team were Master Colorist to the Stars and Stylist Kim Vo, and the beautiful shoe expert Kara Birkenstock. The show debuted this Monday night and it was as much fun to tape as it was to watch!

Sitting Pretty: Nick Verreos, Jen Rade, Lawrence Zarian, Kim Vo and Kara Birkenstock, TV Guide Golden Globes Fashion Wrap

In case you missed it, well: You're in luck.
A) You can still catch it on TV Guide Network: Sat Jan 22 11AM, Sun Jan 23 3PM, and Sun Jan 30 2PM, OR...
B) I've got the entire show below. So pour yourself some coffee--or Red Wine--and click away and watch our crazy TV Guide 2011 Golden Globes Fashion Wrap--and let me know if you Agreed or Disagreed, with our comments and/or picks. I promise I won't be offended. That's the great part about fashion, EVERYONE can have an opinion, it's all very subjective--as well as fun!
