Sasha Cohen Arrives!! Video of her First Practice and Short Program

Miss Sasha Is Back

Yes, darlings, that is Sasha Cohen, and in case you haven't been following figure skating in the last few years, she's been on the "DL". But...just today, she showed up to the 2010 US National Figure Skating Championships in Spokane Washington ready to compete for a shot at the Olympics. As you may remember, Sasha was a Guest Judge and the inspiration for my Project Runway Season 2 Figure Skating Costume Design Challenge, so you know I have been following her. Skating Queen: Uncle Nick rocks the Unitard

Her Short Program music is España Cañí: a Spanish Pasodoble by Pascual Marquina Narro. This is the perfect dramatic style of music that Sasha loves to skate to in her short programs and in many ways reminiscent of her 2006 Olympic Program in which she skated to Dark Eyes. It will be hard to match the brilliance of her SP performance in Torino but by the looks of this video she seems to be well on her way. Yes, she did fall, but hey, it was just a practice and it looks like she has not lost anything from her spins and spirals. Go Sasha can't wait to see the costume tomorrow!!!!

And just for fun let's stroll down memory lane, shall we?!

Milan Men's Fashion Week-Autumn/Winter 2010/2011: McQueen, D & G and Gucci

Alexander McQueen:Prints, prints and more prints. Face masks, printed of course and lots of very fitted Savile Row suits. Did I mention those were printed as well? McQueen is a design God. It's obvious that his women aren't the only DIVAS in the room with this collection. In reality, a very wealthy singer or entertainment type might buy a jacket and pair it with skinny solid pants or jeans and "call it a day". That's fine with me too. But I would love to see someone rock that mask and not get stopped at TSA. Just saying.

D & G Dolce & Gabbana:Think luxe snowboarder in the Italian Alps with a tad bit of MTV's The Jersey Shore campiness thrown in. Yep, welcome to D&G Dolce and Gabbana for next year's Winter.

That tuxedo look is KILLING ME! It's Astronaut meets Snowboarder meets I-need-a-Baileys and Creme...like right now! This might not work in Mountain High or Big Bear but if you were going Cortina in Italy--this is what you might find somebody wearing.

Gucci:Designer Frida Giannini is going back to the "essence" of Gucci: Classic, elegant, jet-set. Trust-fund baby who has grown up, loves his Gucci loafers (sockless preferably), turtlenecks over fitted tailored jackets and likes to hang out on Daddy's yacht, since it will be his in a few years anyway.

Think Stefano Casiraghi, Princess Caroline's eldest son meets Steve McQueen. This is the look I'd like to "work" on my next trip to Positano!!! Here's a highlight video of Frida Giannini's Gucci Men's Fall/Winter 2010/11 Collection:

Nick Verreos LOVES Burberry Prorsum Autumn Winter 2010

Boots over Skinny Jeans and Trench Coats: My Traveling Outfit!
My I'm-Going-To-Florence-Italy-in-Business-Class ensemble...

Men's Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2010/11
just began in Milan and here's a peak of what the most fashionista (of the male persuasion) will be looking like.My I-am-Going-Out Ensemble...

I really, really like the Burberry Prorsum Collection (the HIGH end line) designed of course by Christopher Bailey. It's all about wearing your boots outside your skinny trousers (or jeans) and a tight cinched trench coat with a turned-up collar. I am all there! there was also a top and a coat with heavy gold metal paillette-looking detail which I need to HAVE!! I love the haircuts too--so cute!

New Layout

New year, new flat, new blog layout!! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the lovely Aubrey who kindly designed my new background. I absolutely adore it and think it really expresses the themes of this blog and my personal love for all things girlie and glamorous. What do you guys think of the new layout?

P.S. If you want Aubrey's details please e-mail me :), there is now even a handy tab for that on the side! xxx

Quick EOTD

I haven't been wearing much makeup recently, but this weekend I decided to spice up my standard eyeliner with one of my favourite eyeshadows- Make Up For Ever no. 92.

I love this technique to add a splash (I hate saying 'pop') of colour to my makeup as it's very quick, while still looking polished. I think it is also great for those who are afraid of wearing bright coloured eyeshadows or liners as it creates a statement, without being too bold.

Do you have a way of making bright colours wearable for the daytime?

Back to regular broadcasting :)

Hello my lovelies,

I hope that the horrible January weather is not getting you down and you are enjoying the beginning of a wonderful New Year!! It's already the 20th and time has flown by! I have been so busy packing, moving, unpacking, negotiating with movers, and spending days in waiting for deliveries that never come, all the while being without my beloved essentials!

Although I am still living out of boxes, and have been told that the dining table and chairs that I paid for at the beginning of December won't be getting here till March, the flat is what I would call 'livable' ie. there's a sofa, beds and an internet connection. I will therefore now be trying to make more time for my recently neglected blog and YouTube and resume regular broadcasting :).

At least someone is making themselves comfortable though ;)

Maxie is always the King of the castle.. hehe xxx

More Wedding Stuff and My Weightloss Challenge

I have decided on my colour scheme for the venue now...it will be ivory dressed tables/chair covers with pale apple green organza runners on the tables and matching ties for the chair covers. The centrepieces will alternate between tall lily vases.... And 3 varying sizes on each table of martini style glass vases with floating tea lights in them, the tallest will have ivy trailing down it....
I also want to get these gorgeous hourglass candle holders because I love the fact that you can enclose a fresh flower in the bottom section...how beautiful...I have decided on a cake as well. I will be getting a cake from M & S Wedding Cakes for £199 (well I think it will be just as nice as a £600 one from a cake maker!). My florist has agreed to add this design to it, which I love because of the tumbling thistles...
I love all the organisational side of things, planning flowers and pretty things. It's slowly coming together and I want to enjoy every second leading up to it as well as the big day itself. The best thing about the whole wedding is that I am getting the best husband and mother & father in law I ever could have wished for. They truly are wonderful people so I am very lucky that I will be a part of their family.
On my weightloss journey, I have shed 2 stone 3lbs so far (that's 31lbs) and I still want to lose another stone before the big day in August. I figured if I lose 1lb per week then I can comfortably achieve my goal (allowing for off days in the coming months). I also don't want to set my wedding day as my overall goal as I have made a change in my lifestyle and I want to uphold that. I haven't been on any crazy diets or pills or anything. My weight loss has purely been from eating smaller portions (a side plate full of dinner instead of a big plate) and going to the gym 5 times a week (doing cardiovascular and light weights). I haven't been able to go to the gym for the past 3 days as I've been struck down with another cold but hopefully by the weekend I will be well enough to start going again.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer

After reading Bubblegarm’s rave about this product, which is described by Benefit as ‘industrial strength’, I found myself coveting it immediately! I have been looking for a concealer with great staying power to use on my wedding day and I need one that will cover up any imperfections and make me look flawless. My skin is generally pretty good but you just never know when you’re going to have a breakout (I’ve got my fingers crossed that I don’t wake up on the morning of the wedding to a big fat throbbing spot on the end of my nose…it’s the stuff nightmares are made of!).
The first thing I noticed about this product was the packaging…a simple screw top pan, nothing fancy but very practical. I really like the no fuss packaging which allows easy access when applying with fingers, anything fiddly just leads to you getting concealer under your fingernails which is a pet hate of mine. You get quite a lot of product for your money compared to some other concealers packaged in a pot.
The consistency is creamy and relatively light and I didn’t notice any grittiness that other people have reported. On checking the ingredients, the main ones are petroleum jelly, corn oil and soybean oil which is probably the reason why it just glides onto the skin. It resisted creasing all day and has great staying power; the coverage lasted perfectly and really evened out my complexion.
I found that this concealer was particularly effective at covering up the redness around my nose and considering I’ve had a bad cold this week and have been constantly blowing my snout, it’s a miracle that I don’t look like Rudolph by now! I was amazed when I looked in the mirror and saw that the concealer had managed to last all day despite all the tissue abuse! Another issue I’ve had this week is bad skin. It’s that time of month and my cold has also led to me being rundown which for me, always reflects in my skin. I have a few blemishes on my chin (with one particularly bad one!) and jaw line and this concealer has been a life saver for covering them up completely. At first I tried applying it with a firm concealer brush but it felt like I was wiping the product off with every second stroke so I decided to switch to using my finger. This works a million times better. You have to warm it with your fingertips in the pan so the product is a little more “wet” and dab it lightly on your skin, rather than vigorously rubbing it in. It’s also important to ensure you’re not trying to apply too much at one time, I’ve heard reports of cakey-ness which I didn’t notice so just apply it thinly. As you already know, concealer always works best when you apply really thin layers, rather than trying to lump on a whole load at once. It’s the type of product that’s only brilliant if you apply it properly and with the right technique. Once you have mastered that, you’re flying!
Now on to the cons. I’m a big believer in using different concealer formulas for different areas of the face. I wouldn’t use this as an under-eye concealer as I personally don’t like applying anything remotely heavy on the delicate skin around my eye. This concealer is a brilliant consistency for blemishes and covering up uneven skin tone but not brilliant on the eye area. I prefer to use a lighter formula with light reflecting properties as it’s less likely to settle into creases. Another downside to the product is that there are only three shades – Light, Medium and Dark. Medium suits my complexion at the moment but if I stopped using my Dove gradual tanner then it definitely wouldn’t suit my skin. This means I will probably buy the Light shade so I can mix and get my perfect colour. Although it’s not ideal to have to do this, I think the product is so good, that I am happy to buy another shade in order to tailor it to my skin tone. So it really depends on whether concealer is something you don’t mind spending money on. I have spent a lot of money trying different concealers over the last few months so in my eyes, having to get two shades of this one to get my HG concealer is worth it.

I will definitely be using this on my wedding day, together with Korres Wild Rose Brightening Concealer under my eyes.

Make It Work!! Isn't that the State of The Art For Fashion Trend!!!

Yes, I would think if you flip through most runway fashion magazines, you would be inspired w/ awe.

WHY?

Cause' every piece seems work out together just fine...oh, not just fine, it is nearly fabulous looking......on models. :P

People constantly ask me if that's ok to wear socks w/ peeptoe heels, mary-jane, sandal heels......etc. and as a matter of fact, I LOVE that style ever since I had memory.  ^O^ The only challenge is what kind of socks you choose to go w/ it!!
Sheer metallic socks w/ sandal heels.

Burberry Possum plays a lot socks w/ sandals platform since last spring.

Isn't the lace knee wraps fun!!

Christopher Kane's S/S 10 collection uses lots of gingham patterns.
Do you think you can still find your grand mom table clothes or old dress to update its look a bit!!?

Nothing not to love about those light fabric... so romantic.

Louis Vuitton (RIGHT) plays w/ such intensive patterns n' different cuttings of clothes..... fun!!

We see tutu skirt n' shirt dress quite a lot these couple seasons.

Isn't that dino. adorable!! I want ONE!! :)

hum... I think that shoulder coat is quite useful when it rains. ^O^

Monday I stayed home the whole day and out of nowhere I want to make pancakes for breakfast for my kids.

Aren't those cutest molds.

BTW, I put wrong sides of planet n' sun pancakes molds so those two shapes didn't come out great.
You have to put the metal bar side UP like I did for MOON.  There I figured after couple batches....
so stupid of me..haha...

Didn't I tell you Abby (aka. Heidi) is mad whenever she is hungry.
hha...there she goes again!! :P

Normally, DH gets up early to walk Niel to school while I am still drooling in the dream!!!

What?

My defense?

Yes, I still have a little daughter stays at home w/ me, so plenty of rest/sleep is all I am asking for a day to start!!!

Today's ODJ.
Totally past seasons pieces from my wardrobe.

1. Top:
  • Max & Co. brown glittered shirt
  • Ralph Lauren brown leather vest
2. Bottom: Donna Hsu metallic brown full skirt (Taiwan designer)

I don't want the outfit looks too serious so I simply carry my owl plastic zipper purse bought at Borders bookstore. :P

Polka dot sheer socks w/ YSL 2009 fall runway booties

I use MAC orange blush, Laura Mercier gold/black eyeliner on lower eye n'  around the corner.

Chanel 08' star brooch, vintage gold bamboo brown leather belt, fur collar, my DIY stranded necklace.

Finally I put that fur collar in good use!!!
