Nick Verreos Hosts Style Wars at Simon Fashion Now in San Diego

"Style Wars" with Nick Verreos!
PROJECT RUNWAY STAR NICK VERREOS WILL HEADLINE FIDM STUDENT “STYLE WAR”COMPETITION AT SIMON FASHION NOW ON SEP 12 AT FASHION VALLEY
This weekend--Saturday September 12Th to be exact--I will be in San Diego to host "Style Wars", a draping competition featuring the top fashion design students from the fabulous Fashion institute of Design and Merchandising--my alma mater, and in case you've been living under a rock, the new "home" of this season's Project Runway. The students will have an allotted time to drape--from scratch--a gorgeous gown or dress, only using PINK fabric. They will be doing this in the middle of the chic and upscale Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego--in front of all the shoppers, passersby and guests (hope they don't get too nervous!). I'm so excited to come down to San Diego and judge this amazing contest and see what these talented "kids" come up with. Below is a sketch I have created to serve as inspiration (fortunately, for me, I'm NOT in the competition). Hope to see you there!

Below is all the information for this weekend's "Style Wars" contest, when I will be there and what it is all about! See you there (so we can take all the Facebook photos you want, and maybe I'll sketch something just for you!)

Autumn Winter Collections Lust

This is just a quick round up of what has really caught my eye in the A/W collections that are being dangled in front of our noses at the moment on the Glamour magazine website (pics courtesy of them). Fell free to voice your opinions on what you are adding to your wishlists!

First up is the Chrome palette from Bobbi Brown with 8 eyeshadows and 4 lip glossses. The compact has metallic/icy/shimmery shades that are just to die for! BUT it's going to retail at £59...that is pretty pricey! But the colours are so wearable and pretty! Next up to catch my magpie eye was the most blogged about brand of late...Illamasqua Dystopia collection. I really want the Liquid Metal in Silver! I have a serious obsession with silver/grey eyeshadows and this MUST be mine! I love the look of the eyeshadow quad below too so let me know if all you girls that attended the Dystopia event liked the way these colours swatched...the website is notoriously bad for colour swatches so I'm wary of what they would be like. I'm intrigued by the metallic silver lipgloss too, it's very unusual!

Well hello there, do I spy a metallic navy nail polish and a gorgeous highlighting powder?...This is what Lancome will have to offer this A/W...Declaring Indigo, and I'm excited to try those two out! I'm not so keen on the navy colours for the eyes but generally Lancome excel at bronzers and powders so I need to get down there and swatch this baby!

Lancome Cils Booster XL Super Enhancing Mascara Base

So I had mentioned a few posts ago that I won a dinky travel sized Lancome Cils Booster on Ebay for around £3.00. After reading the blogs of Aleksis a.k.a. AlphaBlonde and Tali a.k.a. The Gloss Goss and hearing them rave about this product, I really wanted to give it a go. You can see their thoughts on it here http://alpha-blonde.blogspot.com/2009/08/lancome-cils-booster.html and http://theglossgoss.blogspot.com/2009/08/luscious-lashes-with-hypnose.html. If you haven't checked out either of their blogs/You Tube channels then I suggest you do...they are both fantastic and really nice girls.
I thought I would get a sample size so i could see if the product worked on me before I went ordering the full size for more than double the price (I was being sensible for once in my makeup buying life!). The only other lash primer I had tried was the one by Estee Lauder one years ago and I remember quite liking it. The only downside with lash primers is that they can cause the spidery lash effect if you go overboard with them.

This product claims to be a "white mascara base enriched with XL Micro-Fibers to prime and protect your lashes. For use under your usual mascara to enhance its colour and makeup result for a look that is instantly more intense, more captivating".

I'm forever trying to boost my lashes as they've never been great (although they ARE improving ten fold with the Revitalash I have been using for the past 6 weeks...review to come next month). Even though my lashes have been boosted by that, they still need good products to make them stand out.

I applied a thin coat of this before using my usual mascara (YSL Faux Cils) and I noticed straight away that it made a big difference. YSL Faux Cils does an excellent job of boosting my feeble lashes but the Lancome Cils Booster really intensified the effect without creating a clumped spidery effect. I really like this! I really can't be bothered messing around with fake eyelashes coz basically I'm rubbish at applying them...but this product, used with a good quality mascara, means that you can have long, thick lashes without the hassle of fake ones. I am soooo getting the full size at the end of the month!

I have posted a pic courtesy of http://www.feelunique.com/ of the full sized Lancome Cils Booster which is priced at £12.85 which is alot cheaper than I've seen anywhere else...I love that website!

Mommies Outing Fun to Six Flag Discovery Kingdom!!

As most of you already knew, I have way too much energy that I had to let it all out on the weekends!!! I must feel that life is short and I had to enjoy every moment w/ my kids, family, and friends! Besides, it is great to keep in touch w/ your friends who might lost contact for a while and why not starting from YOU, at this very moment, just call them up or email them right away!!! :)

I told my friends that I am starting celebrating my 25th year old anniversary each year!!! lol In case you don't already know, my age stays at 25-year-old forever!! Geez, how come I am so afraid of aging!! hahaha....

Today, I leave DH and little daughter, Ilona, at home. DH has to work extra hard at home to keep up my ever growing luxury spending...(oh, Honey, I know you love me so much!!!!) My high school pal, Judy and I decided to drive ourselves w/ kids to Six Flag Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo.

MY ODJ is bright, bright and bright!! :)

Chanel 08 gray jumbo classic!!

Today, we tried so many new things, new rides, and I even challenge this "balance skill" climbing thing.....which I failed after 2 attempts!!
But I am up to the challenge in the future, we'll see next time I get the biggest reward!!! haha...

I carried my Chanel as messenger style ..then pull out the chain to carry on the shoulder....oh, so no one could possibly rub my bag away!! ha ha ha...

The priceless moment of my daughter, Abby's smile!! :)

Needless to say, everyone had a great time today!!

Judy and her son enjoy the last dance of Zomba!!! :)

We left home around 10:30AM and got home around 10PM. We went to Just Koi in Dublin city to have dinner before heading home. The dishes are delicious and we are very content!!

Duckling tongue.

Frying rice noodles w/ pickled veggie.

I had this "mo mo chia chia" dessert to go, just so I can enjoy this good eats once again!!

I am still up right now after finishing folding the clothes, doing dishes and blogging!!! If I ever feel I have to go to sleep is only because I am worried about having dark circles under eyes and disturbing my body cycle to generate collagen!!! lol
