Gifts From Friends....... Priceless!!!

"Gift" - a thing given willingly to someone without payment!! Definition taken from dictionary.com.

For me, being gifted is more of a caring/loving feeling showed from a friend. I love receiving gifts and I love to hear my friends say that they give/gift to me because they think I might like it!! How sweet!!

No matter how much the value is, I love the sentimental feeling of being understood, and being loved!! I would say I am not a minimalist of getting dressed, but I am definitely easy understood in personality......straightforward!!!

Today, Cathy gave me one of her "un-loved" tights which she claims is way too long for her!!

Me?
Happily accept the tights n' I must say I do love it for its rich brown and purple tones!! Especially it is also so stylish that there is a section of twilled cotton around the calves!!

Oh, yes, Cathy, a legging freak!! Please don't stop buying leggings(of course, I accept not just leggings, you know!!!) so I would have endless "gifts" from you!!! ^O^
It seems that we didn't catch the twilled section at the bottom in camera.

There is another wonderful thing that Cathy gifted to me....from Bailey44 (the black one like a poncho on me).  And yes, yet another un-loved stuff from her!!
You can play w/ the braided tassel however you like it, leave it hang, or put them into the belt hole like I did.

The hilarious thing is she never told me that it is actual a skirt until today...... We went out together n' told her that this "poncho" is from her like 2 years ago.

Then, she was like.... huh?!! What??!! No!!!  But a minute later, she realized that "poncho" is a "skirt" but mistakenly by me wearing as a poncho!!!  ^O^

We then think it is such a versatile piece (yes, a wardrobe staple too)!! It can be wore as a skirt, a strapless dress n' a poncho!!! ^O^

Somehow I still love it better as a poncho! :)

My ODJ.

Big kisses to my friends who gave/gifted to me ever n' to those who never gifted to me (probably I should gift to you first. :P)!!!

See you tomorrow. xoxo Rachel

Yes, kiddies, the 2010 Awards Season is over! I know, boo hoo, cry all you want, but we must all carry on! For the last TV Guide Awards Fashion Wrap of this season, I--along with my fellow expert panel of style cohorts including TV Guide's Fashion Team Co-Host (and Regis and Kelly Style Guy) Lawrence Zarian, UBER stylist Jen Rade, and Carrie Ann Inaba--decided to BRING IT!!! Big time!Hair Guru Kim Vo

Our Grammy Fashion Wrap was the HIGHEST RATED to date, so we really had to drink that Red Bull (Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte in my case!) and be ready to deliver! I think we did. I had the best time shooting the 2010 Oscars Fashion Wrap and as always, felt as if I was just sitting on my sofa with friends having fun. I also love the fact that one of my favorite Hair DIVAS--OK, MY FAVORITE!--Kim Vo, came by to visit. And he stayed for TWO segments: LOVE!Bubblegun Pink: Tanika Ray and Nick Verreos enjoy a moment in the TV Guide Network Make-Up Room (like you can't tell from all the make-up I have on!!!)

I also enjoyed a surprise visit from my "Sister From Another Mother", the one and only, Miss Tanika Ray, who stopped by the TV Guide Network Studios to say "Hi"! She was at the nearby Kodak Theater attending the Oprah Oscars Special TV Show. Lucky her! She was so happy, she told me she vowed to NEVER remove that green Oprah wristband pass!

Nick Verreos visits Boston's Suffolk University for Unity Week 2010!

Hello BAAAWWWWWSSSSTON!!!!!!Suffolk Cheer: Nick Verreos poses with "Unity Week" Suffolk University Committee

Last Monday, on March 1st, during my 7-day stint visiting the East Coast, I landed in Boston's Suffolk University, located in walking distance from landmarks such as The State House (more on that below), Boston Common, Public Garden, Quincy Market and the Financial District. Suffolk University, Boston Massachusetts

I was in Boston to do a very special speaking engagement
to kick off Suffolk University's Unity Week 2010. My event was sponsored by the wonderful Suffolk University Program Committee, Student Leadership as well as Office of Retention Services.Minutes Before: The C. Walsh Theater Stage

I stepped into the fabulously renovated C. Walsh Theater, Suffolk's premier performance space. As students filled the theater, I waited "behind the wings" for my introduction. I brought a special slideshow with images from my NIKOLAKI Collection as well as red carpet images of celebrities wearing my designs. Fashion Stage: Nick Verreos onstage, C. Walsh Theater, Suffolk University Boston

These played behind me as I spoke to the 100+ audience. I think they really enjoyed it all (from what they told me!). After my "lecture" (or as some people called "Nick's Fashion & Comedy Hour"!), I made sure to gather everyone present to take a group shot:
My very special Unity Week 2010 lecture was followed by photos and autographs, as I got to meet Suffolk University "Best and Brightest" up close and personal. It was a chilly 35 Degrees but that didn't stop them from bringing in the "Spring Colors" and still looking cute.

My evening ended with a delicious dinner at a local pub--I finished late (I went OVERTIME with my Lecture and photo-taking!). Thank you to the entire Unity Week 2010 Committee for making me feel right at home--and not judging my Lumberjack, skinny tie and skinny jean look of the night! Love ya!
Golden: The Massachusetts State House, Boston

The next morning, I had some time before heading to the Boston Logan Airport and catching my flight to New York City, so I decided to spend some time sightseeing and walking around. I just LOVE Boston and its architecture. I really felt as if I were in Milan or Paris as I ventured down some of its cobblestone streets and walked past the brick brownstone homes and historic buildings. Trust me, in LA, where I reside, there isn't ANYTHING like this, so I tried to soak it all up! I especially loved seeing the impressive Massachusetts State House with its gold dome and brick and Roman column facade. Where's Johnny Weir: The Ice Skating Rink at the Boston Common Frog Pond

I also was very happy when I spotted an ice skating rink, located adjacent to the State House (you know how much I love me some Figure Skating!) in the Boston Common Frog Pond. With this vision--and the thought of donning some skates and doing a triple axle--I realized it was time to get my luggage and catch a cab to head to my next stop: New York City and New Jersey!

2010 Oscars: Sandra Bullock Makeup Via Chanel

Tonight was Sandra’s big night and she was in a happy, ethereal mood. I wanted her to look like the true movie star she is, so we went with modern classy Hollywood – dewy skin, soft eyes, and a bold classic red lip.” — Angela Levin
Angela prepped Sandra’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid. She then used a foundation brush to apply CHANEL Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup in Shell all over the face.

Angela created a structured brow with the soft brown powder in the limited edition Les Regards de CHANEL Palette. She lined Sandra’s eyes with the darker brown shade in the same palette.

Finally, she applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir for sexy, glamorous lashes. To create the real focus of Sandra’s look – a gorgeous, bold red lip – Angela applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris. She finished the look by gently dabbing a bit of the same lip colour on the apples of Sandra’s cheeks – Angela’s signature makeup trick.

Foxy lashes

The lovely Imogen from foxylocksextensions kindly sent me a pair of her new foxy lashes to try out. So I thought I would quickly review them and show you the look I used them in.
These lashes are gorgeous! They add a good amount of length and volume without being too heavy. I especially love the winged out effect on the outer corners, which elongates the eye. They are easy to remove from the packaging, and the band is flexible without being too flimsy, which makes them a breeze to put on. However, the band is pretty long, so most of us who aren't blessed with Bambi eyes will have to trim them considerably (I always trim my lashes to make them fit so this was not a problem).
I wore these out to dinner and wanted to create a look that was quick, yet still striking with a lot of focus on the lashes. I decided to keep the shadow super simple, with just a little MAC wedge all over the lid, and a double liner effect with silver (GOSH) and black (ELF cream liner).
I really love how this looks as the lashes and liner really complement each other and make my eyes look a lot bigger and brighter, which is always a good thing :).
Foxylocks lashes are £3.99 and can be purchased here.
