2010 Golden Globes Red Carpet fashion: Who Wore What? Nicole Kidman

Statuesque Australian actress Nicole Kidman wore a nude-colored silk charmeuse gown from the House of Nina Ricci by Peter Copping. Copping replaced Olivier Theyskens after he was unceremoniously "let go" by Puig, his bosses.

Copping is a former assistant to Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton and this is his first collection. The gown is VERY 1930's with its cowl neckline and bias-cut and reminds me of a gown from a TCM movie from the 1930's that an actress such as Claudette Colbert would wear. It also looks like a gown I would design; in other words: Love it! I would have just removed a few of those side bows...for sure.

2010 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion: Who Wore What? January Jones

Runway to Red Carpet: January Jones in Lanvin by Alber Elbaz, Spring 2010
"Mad Men" actress January Jones wore a black Lanvin gown to the 67Th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Interestingly enough, it was customized from the original cocktail-length version to a floor-length gown with side slits. I am sure some people might see this as being a bit "too out there" but I liked that she (or her stylist) chose this.

January Jones
is becoming a "fashion gal" in that, especially after the Emmy Awards "futuristic" ivory Versace Atelier gown, she got a mixed reaction: Fashionistas LOVED it while non-fashion folk thought it was "just too much".

"I don't get it" was their general thought. I did get it and I totally get this. I especially "get" the black hair band. She is SO NOW!!! Victoria Beckham: Watch Out, you're not the only one who loves them headbands darling!

2010 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashion: Who Wore What? Meryl Streep

Golden Globes Best Actress Winner Meryl Streep wore a black (a trend color this year?) gown with an asymmetrical off-the-shoulder neckline and one-sleeve. Very directional for her and I praise her for it. The cinched gold-buckled belt creates an hourglass shape, accentuating her waist. Perfectly elegant, yet modern gown for a woman of her stature, demeanor, age and size.
I would guess it is a Donna Karan from the asymmetry of it to the dark wool jersey like fabrication and simple shape. It looks very much like a gown from Karan's Pre-Fall 2010 Collection as seen above in the photo. I think the style Streep chose is modern and effortless. Just like Meryl.
Correction: It turns out this dress was designed by none other than Project Runway Alum Chris March! Congratulations Chris!

2010 Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion: Who Wore What? Penelope Cruz: 2010 Golden GlobesAwards

Runway to Red Carpet: Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive Spring 2005

2010 Golden Globe-Nominated Best Supporting Actress In A Motion Picture
actress Penelope Cruz wore what she deemed was "Armani Vintage" (or at least that is what she told the NBC Pre-Show). Well, kiddies, it was Armani Prive from his first Haute Couture Collection, Spring/Summer 2005. Only five years old, I might hesitate to call that "Vintage"--I can understand a Vintage Balmain from 1955. But 2005? It was all black and very Spanish in terms of it's tulip "flamenco" Sevillana silhouette and embroidered lace which was reminiscent of a Spanish Mantilla. I liked it. Her hair was flawless (even in the rain) as well as her make-up.

Johnny Weir Looks FAB in Heels! Take that Evan Lysacek!

The MOST FABULOUS...and the GAYEST...thing I have seen in a LONG time! And I LOVE IT!!!!

Yes, that's Johnny Weir, three-time US Nationals Champion, 2008 World's Bronze Medalist, and two-time Grand Prix Finalist in a fabulous--with a Capital "F" ad for his TV show "Be Good Johnny Weir", which is debuting on the Sundance Channel tomorrow, Monday January 18Th. Great timing since the AT&T US National Figure Skating Championship is occurring as we speak. The show will be an eight-part documentary following Johnny--and his heels I hope. I saw that promo clip above while watching the US Nationals today and I almost did a triple flip on my couch! Someone spent A LOT of money making that and it showed huney: It's glossy, well-produced, well-edited and very GAY!!!

ELF Bronzed Mineral Glow

Sometimes ELF products can be a bit hit and miss but I've found that the Studio and Mineral lines have been my favourite. I've found another great product in the shape of their Bronzed Mineral Glow... I'm generally not a big fan of loose powders as they can be messy and you always end up piling too much on your brush. However, as long as you store this pot upright, the powder only comes out when you tap it into the lid. And even when you do tap it in, it doesn't all tip out like some other products can. There has been alot of makeup coloured stains on my carpets in the past! You can control this more to an extent.
I prefer mineral powder as they are generally very finely milled and overall they are kinder to your skin. This powder has very very slight shimmer but it's only visible when you swatch it quite thickly on your hand. The shimmer doesn't show up on your face and that makes it brilliant for daytime use. No one wants to be all shimmery in the harsh daylight! The colour is very natural and just lifts the complexion to create a more healthy, glowing complexion.
At £5.00, I think this is really good value for money as you get quite alot of product and I think it would also last a long time, given that you're not wasting any of it. I love the subtle effect it gives and I reckon I will keep buying this in the future as an everyday inexpensive staple product. They also do a pink toned one that is designed to brighten the complexion so I would be interested to find out what that's like.
Has anyone else tried this product?

Haiti Needs Your Help!

In light of the catastrophic Earthquake in Haiti, I would like to ask all of you for your help towards this cause. I choose to donate to the YELE.org foundation led by Wyclef Jean.

Even if you donate $5.00 this could help someone in Haiti eat or get some much needed medical aid.

Please help.
