Nick Verreos on Style Network's "Style Star: Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston"!
Girls Next Door: the Hollywood Red Carpet Version:
This Saturday was a brand new episode of Style Network's "Style Star", the weekly show which highlights the Style of celeb ladies. This entire season of "Style Star" features me--as well as other Style Experts-- such as "America's Next Top Model" photographer/judge/hottie Nigel Barker, my fashionista buddy Marcellas Reynolds, as well as Model Warren Alfie Baker and others (there are female commentators as well!!).
For this week's episode, we discussed Hollywood's "Girls Next Door": Actresses Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. Of course, we talked about Reese and that canary yellow Nina Ricci strapless silk jacquard cocktail dress she wore at the 2007 Golden Globes:
As well as...
When she wore the Vintage Christian Dior 1950's organza-and-rose-colored-ribbon sequin gown the year she won her Oscar at the 2006 Academy Awards. Somehow--even in High Fashion, she still remained the "Girl Next Door"...just dressed up in $30,000 clothes!
And yes, we didn't forget Miss Jennifer Aniston...One of my favorite "Style Star" looks from her was this black one-shoulder Valentino gown which she wore last year at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards.
*If you missed Saturday night's Debut showing, then you're in luck, it also airs at these times/dates:
Sunday, March 6, 10:30PM

Samantha Harris... Our next supermodel?
An Indigenous and Danish ancestry, mahogony silk smooth skin, plump round lips and an unpretentious beauty all combine to make this aussie 'girl-next-door' the next big thing. Not only did the striking Samantha Harris come from humble beginnings, but she maintains that she was never the 'chosen one' in the eyes of the fashion elite, saying that "I was constantly beaten by the same girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, so I started to think that's what you had to look like to win."...but not anymore...
This now 20 year old, who has graced the cover of Vogue and shot campaigns for Seafolly, Sportsgirl and Wittner, is in more demand than ever, both on the local and international stage. And Harris is not complaining, saying that "I always wanted to be a model. Mum taught us all to follow our goals because she was denied those opportunities"...
When asked about her goals and ambitions in modelling she mentions her desire to move to the US to further her career, thus following in the footsteps of model greats Miranda Kerr, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Catherine McNeil, all Australian beauties.

Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011: Dolce & Gabbana, Versace!!
Maschile /Femminile (Masculine/Feminine), Lace, Tailoring, Vibrant Colors...Milan Fashion Week Highlights:
Last week, Milan Fashion Week continued and while you can read (and see) my BLOG posting for the Gucci and Prada Fall/Winter 2011 Collections HERE, I wanted to also show you the latest offerings from two other MAJOR Italian Fashion Houses: Dolce & Gabbana and Versace:
Dolce & Gabbana:
For Fall/Winter 2011 Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showed many, many looks--over 80 to be exact! There were no "Earth-shaking" style statements for these two--just same old same old fabulous Masculine vs. Feminine stylings that have become the Dolce & Gabbana signature. The show began with Model-of-the-Moment Arizona Muse (of course!), in a jacquard double-breasted jacket and cropped knee-hovering pants, white buttoned-up dress shirt, hat and even some faux sideburns!
She was VERY Madonna "Open Your Heart" video. While the "Uomo Parade" of superbly tailored suits and perfectly draped trousers continued, it also became apparent that there was a 1980's Ska Band/Come On Eileen feeling to it as well, in addition to the fact that this entire section looked as if it could have been styled by former Lindsay Lohan girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson and model Agyness Deyn:
But of course, the Dolce & Gabbana girl cannot live on pant suits alone, and to satisfy this, Domenico and Stefano also sent out many sexy lace and corseted lingerie-inspired looks that will for sure be placed FRONT and CENTER at their boutiques worldwide come next Fall:
Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011 Full Runway Show:
Versace Donna Women's Wear Fall/Winter 2011:
For Versace Fall/Winter 2011 Donatella Versace and her Design Team continued on their path of her brother's Design Roots, incorporating baroque motifs, color-blocks and imprints in addition to those ubiquitous Versace gold-plated buttons, which became part of the House's Legacy and roots.
The Collection was molto sexy and filled with Vibrant in-your-face colors: Neon Teal, Royal Blue, Highlighter Yellow, as well as some whites and blacks thrown in for good measure. Themes ran from Red Carpet Diva to Military Power Goddess. Domenico and Stefano may give you Maschile...but Donatella's girl is ALL WOMAN!!!

Nick Verreos TV Guide Academy Awards Fashion Wrap: My Photo Recap + Entire Video!!
My Picks for Oscars Red Carpet "Best" & "Not So Good"...Plus Daisy! Paulina! Tabatha!!!
On The Set: Nick Verreos, Tabatha Coffey, Paulina Porizkova and host Daisy Fuentes, "TV Guide 2011 Academy Awards Fashion Wrap"
The day after my big Oscars Red Carpet Coverage "Debut" --very early in the morning, I was on my way back to Hollywood & Highland and the TV Guide Network Studios to film my "TV Guide Network 2011 Academy Awards Fashion Wrap". No rest for the wicked I think the saying goes...
Girl Power: Nick Verreos, Tabatha Coffey, Paulina Porizkova and Daisy Fuentes, "TV Guide 2011 Academy Award Fashion Wrap"
I was going top be reunited with my "Atop the Red Carpet" partner-in-crime, Miss Paulina Porizkova, as well as Tabatha Coffey and our Hostess, la fabulosa Daisy Fuentes! Supposedly I was the only man on the panel, but...really I probably had more Estrogen than any of these incredible ladies! Daisy looked great in a lace-over-nude black puffy-sleeved fitted dress (looking tres sexy!) and Paulina decided to give a Le Smoking look--which included a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket.
Tabatha also went the lace-and-nude route (a big TREND on Sunday's Academy awards Red Carpet) and decided to go UBER Glam with a halter-style gown by Mon Atelier's designer Ali Rahimi. We all had so much fun giving our DISHY "Fashion and Hair Two Cents" and even though it was our first time ever together, it was as if we had been doing this for years! Love the ladies!
In case you are interested, my Top Picks went to Cate Blanchett for being a Fashionista and Fashion Designer's Muse in her directional lilac-and-yellow sequin and silk plisse Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011 gown by Designer Riccardo Tisci. She was THE Oscars Warrior Goddess (to me) in that gown.
I also had to "give it up" to Jennifer Hudson. Yes, there were problems with the "sisters" and how high that Empire Line/Underbust seam was, but...the overall impact was INCREDIBLE. I think she WORKED it OUT in this Versace Atelier Spring 2008 coral/orange-red gown. It was an architectural statement par excellence. When she showed up, it seemed as if the "Red Carpet Seas" had parted! Now, to find out who I thought was "Not So Good", you must watch the video below...

I loved being part of the TV Guide Network 2011 Award Season and doing every "Fashion Wrap" post-show--as well as of course, doing the Academy Awards LIVE Countdown Red Carpet Show. Filming this "2011 Academy Award Fashion Wrap" was bittersweet since this was the last big awards show of the season, but, at the same time, it was a perfect cherry on the "Award Show cake"!

TV Guide Network's Academy Awards Countdown To The Red Carpet: Nick Verreos Pics!!!
My First Time...at the Oscars!!!
Dapper Threesome: Supermodel Paulina Porizkova, TV Guide host/anchor Marc Istook, and Fashion Designer Nick Verreos, covering 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet
Last Sunday, as you all well know, was the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. And TV Guide Network asked me to be part of their 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet Show and cover the red carpet fashions along with TV Guide host (and cutie!) Marc Istook and Supermodel Paulina Porizkova! Well, as you can imagine, when I got the call, I just about went into MAJAH screaming convulsions!!! I was thrilled. Host Chris Harrison, Hair DIVA Tabatha Coffey and TV Guide red carpet host Maria Sansone would also round out the Academy Awards Live Red Carpet team.
Up until now, I had commented on awards show red carpet fashions afterward on the TV Guide Fashion Wrap Shows and/or actually covered the award shows (Daytime Emmys, Primetime Emmys) from below on the red carpet (along with 200 other pushing interviewers from places like Slovakian TV!!) but NEVER from THE Oscars and from the coveted "Atop the Kodak Theater Red Carpet" bridge.
The week leading up to last Sunday was a blur of crazy activities for me: I met my co-stars, Tabatha, Mark, Maria and Paulina Porizkova of course. I was a bit nervous to meet her since well, I'm "just a fashion designer" and she's A SUPERMODEL!!! But, of course, she was SOOO lovely: The first thing she said to me was "I absolutely love you, loved you on the show (Project Runway) and I know all about you!". Well, DONE and DONE, as they say; she had me at "Hello!". We had Read-Through Meetings as well as an actual Rehearsal the day before, right at the Kodak Theater atop the Red Carpet.
That day, while walking to my "TV Guide Bridge" position, I ran into my good ol' friend, Mr. Tim Gunn!!! He was also rehearsing for his ABC Live Oscars Pre-Show Hosting Duties. Looking dapper as always) in a blue plaid suit and multi-colored tie. Love him!
I then finally made it up to the Bridge and met up with Mark Istook (above) and began rehearsals for my "Oscars Red Carpet Coverage". The day before the Oscars was rainy and VERY COLD, so the tarps were up covering the red carpet. We were a bit concerned about not being able to see the stars 30 feet below us as they walked down the Red Carpet the following day. We hoped and prayed that the next day would be a beautiful NO-TARP day and as it turned out: It was!

The Day of The Oscars!!!
Oscar Bleachers: View of the crowd in position to begin their Star Sightings, Academy awards Red Carpet
The Day was finally here and I put on my Marc Jacobs Collection tuxedo (that I bought thank you very much!), my Zegna tuxedo shirt and black-silver-and-white bow tie (perfectly tied by my TV Guide Wardrobe boy, Jesse Jacobs-Love you!!). My NIKOLAKI partner David Paul, let me borrowed his beautiful vintage gold-and-pearl shirt studs and cuff links his Grandfather gave to him, to finish off my "Oscar Look".
My "TV Guide Red Carpet Bridge" partners Marc and Paulina also looked very elegant and Oscar night worthy: Mark in a white-tie tuxedo and Paulina in her own Dolce & Gabbana gold off-the-shoulder stretch satin gown that her hubby Ric Ocasek got for her (how cute!). Tabatha and Maria, unfortunately were not with us but having a "ball" atop the TV Guide Network building at a rooftop party overlooking the Hollywood sign.
I was so excited to see that next to our TV Guide Network position was STUNNING Fashion designer Rachel Roy, who was covering for another network. Rachel could not have been sweeter! She, in fact kept teasing me, saying "Nick! Tell me what they're wearing PLEASE!!!!"And next to her was "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" Camille Grammer doing her thang for CNN's "Showbiz Tonight"--go figure! Rachel Roy as a fashion insider/expert I can understand, Camille...well, that's a whole other matter.
The LIVE show went on without a hitch and seriously, I was PINCHING myself the entire time! I still could not believe that I was there, at the Academy Awards, covering the red carpet fashions! I realize that there are more important things in the world (Hello, Libya!) but still, this was an incredibly exciting and humbling moment for me!
Thank You TV Guide for recognizing a real Fashion Designer and Instructor of Fashion can give educated-yet entertaining--fashion commentary on TV and for the BIGGEST Red Carpet Night of the Year!
