The Last New Pair of ~~

I have been waiting for this Rochas leopard ( Printed pony round toe) mid boot to go on sale!! And indeed they are $599 currently sold at Barney's New York!

It is printed pony hair which is the same pony dye as my 08' Lanvin leopard happy sac!
Now I have completed head-to-toe leopard collection.  Oh, no worries that I won't wear the whole leopard outfit crawling in public...unless it is Halloween!! ^O^

I love the understated chic look of Rochas leopard flat boots and they seem to be a go-to boots to throw on w/ any outfit...classic, fun, casual, lady-like, or even formal. But you probably have to get used to the "LONG" and "narrow" looking of leopard paws on you! lol.

Ilona says that my feet looks like a tiger. I think what she really means is "leopard" or "Jaguar".  ^^

Kids and us are still trying our best to adjust the jet lag. We are doing great since normal school routine helps a lot, besides, wake up at 6:30 to 7 AM isn't so bad after all! ^O^

 Have a happy Friday!

Ila Spa

A few weeks ago I attended an event showcasing the beautiful ila spa range, and I am so excited to tell you all about this brand, as I really do think it is quite special!
Ila means Earth in Sanskrit, which is very appropriate as this brand really works with nature and aims to be 'beyond organic'. It was very clear to me that Denise Leicester, the creator of this range, is extremely passionate about creating holistic, organic, chemical free products from the highest quality ingredients collected in a sustainable way. I was absolutely captivated by the stories of her travels all over the world in search of pure, natural ingredients. Her vision goes beyond the way in which we see beauty products, as she believes that by using truly natural substances we can harness the energy of the Earth to bring balance to the body. I remember when I was little my grandmother once explained to me that bread from a factory, where the dough had been made by machines could never be as good as from a bakery, as it didn't have the human touch. I can't really say how in tune I am with such beliefs, but I find it very thought provoking!
One of my favourite ingredients (and stories) in this range is the Rose Otto Oil (Rosa Damascena Flower Oil). These roses are grown and distilled in India using traditional methods. Water, drawn from the earth simply by solar energy is mixed with petals in copper vats and heated by fire (using cow dung as fuel). The mixture is then cooled and the oil separated as it floats on the surface. The spent petals are fed to the cows, thus completing the cycle.
I have always loved the scent of roses (perhaps because my mama used to dip my dummy into rose jam when I was little, naughty!), but this has the most beautiful scent I have ever tried. Rubbing a single drop between my palms released the most exquisite scent - sweet, warm and deep without being overly heavy. I inquired as to whether we were able to purchase this oil, as I would love it as a perfume, and was told that it is priced at £10,000 per litre, which explains Ila's luxury brand price point.
Every ingredient has been carefully chosen for its unique value. The Argan oil is produced by a womens' cooperative in Morocco while the salt used in the scrubs comes from Eastern Pakistan and is hundreds of millions of years old.

Though none of this would make compelling reading if the products themselves didn't measure up, so I was keen to try them as soon I got home from the event. One product I already knew I loved was the  Tuberose and Rose candle. These filled the entire room with the most delicious rose scent, which reminded me of Turkish delight, and the next day I could still smell it in my hair! I burn candles at home all the time, and never has the fragrance lasted on me (and if it has it was more the smoke than the scent).
I was kindly given the glowing radiance collection to try and I have really enjoyed using these products. They have a very defined and strong scent, which is somehow simultaneously relaxing yet envigorating. Just a few drops of the bath oil are enough to turn the bathwater milky and soft. I really dislike bath oils that float on the surface, but this one emulsifies beautifully and leaves my skin feeling really soft and lightly fragranced.
I usually follow this with the body cream, which contains argan oil and organic shea butter combined with damascena rose otto and tuberose. The cream is pretty thick, but it does not feel heavy so it spreads easily and sinks into the skin fairly quickly leaving it soft, but not at all oily.
The fragrance of the cream is quite difficult to describe, it has a spicy, earthy base (which reminds me of the incense used in Thai temples) with a rose heart and a mild sweetness. I am not sure everyone would love it as it is potent and lasts on the skin a long time. I have been using it mainly on my arms and decolletage, and when applied at night the scent left behind in the morning is still noticeable.

I could say so much more about this brand as I do find the story behind its creation fascinating, but the products do speak for themselves! Everything seems to have been thought of and it's the little details that I find really make ila special, such as the soya based ink on all their recyclable packaging and leaflets, their use of Fiji water and the research that was carried out to see how the products affect your aura (they improve it apparently)!

You can find more information about ila, as well as a list of their products, stockists and spa locations here. Their spa treatments sound very intriguing, and I would definitely like to try one in the near future (wonder if the bf is reading this..). Have you tried any ila products? I would love to know what you think of them! xxx

A Corner for a New Movie.

DH works all sort of web application!! One of the project is movie-related which is more interested to me. His boss, Keyur Patel, or I should say boss' wife is very into movies. No matter it is producing a movie, a documentary or any movie related to "humanity" would draw her attention. You can even submit your own movie on her website and join the film festival year round.

Or, if you are simply interested in watching short, independent movies, here is the website:

I find a lot of the movies on the website very touching, or sometimes might be annoying or disturbing but I'd say: "Human being, that's all"!! Those movies make us re-think our world or even us!! Hopefully, through those tiny background voices aka real world reality movies, we could change ourselves, the society, or the world little by little!!

Here is an exciting new movie: The Warrior's way which will be released on Dec. 3rd.

One of my fave. actress: Kate Bosworth leads the movie and Asia actor, Ti Lung (狄龍),Jang Dong Gun Korea idol whom resembles another Hong Kong actor, 鄭伊健 to me!

Co-executive Producer: Keyur Patel!

FOTD and Review of RMK Extra Deep W Mascara

I dunno what's going on with my hair today, it's all static, flyaway and there's stubborn kinks in it...very annoying!  It hasn't stopped snowing here yet unfortunately.  I was supposed to be going out to see my mum and dad today and stay with them for a couple of days but the roads are too dangerous to travel.  So I'm stuck in the flat again!  I headed to the gym this morning to burn off some calories purely so I could indulge myself in my weekly treat from Cafe Crema...a slice of their Sticky Toffee Cake...

Let's take a moment to appreciate this thing of beauty....ahhhhhhhh.
I would prefer to go to Cafe Crema over Starbucks ANY DAY.  It's run by a lovely couple, Richard and Sarah who really take the time to get to know you and have a chat when you drop in.  I keep going back because they make everyone feel like a valued customer, they always remember your name and what you spoke about last time you were in.  You don't get many businesses like that anymore and it's a real shame.  They make an effort to source local quality produce and suppliers for their cakes, coffees and unique range of teas.  There was even a Christmas Spice tea there today that smells like the tea equivalent of mulled wine! It smelt gorgeous!  They have a local lady who bakes cakes and cheesecakes for them and they are the most divine I've ever tasted!

One of the brighter eyeshadows that really like from Mac is Parfait Amour.  It's a vivid bluish violet duochrome with violet opalescent shimmer (frost) and it makes adding a bit of colour into your routine really easy.  Because it's slightly more complex then your average eyeshadow you can lay a paler base colour down and just use this as your crease colour.  Because of the duochrome effect, it looks like you have used 4 or 5 eyeshadows yo blend the whole look when really you have just used two.  Genius!

Face: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Fresco, Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque, Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Pressed Powder, Dior Matte Sunshine Bronzer in Honey Matte, Sleek Contour Kit, Mac Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl as blush/highlight.

Eyes: Mac Paint Pot in Painterly as a base, Ivory shade from Dior Earth Reflection eyeshadow palette all over lid and inner corner, Mac Crystal e/s all over lid, Beautiful Iris e/s in crease and outer lid, Mac Parfait Amour in crease and outer lid, Mac Vanilla e/s on browbone, Estee Lauder Double Wear Eyeliner in Onyx along top lashline, Mac Carbon e/s to tidy up liner, RMK Extra Deep W Mascara in Black, Benefit Eyebright on waterline, Benefit Powderflage under eyes to set concealer and tidy up any fallout.

Lips: Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Candy, Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss in Frivolous Pink

So onto the review of the RMK Extra Deep W Mascara...

It's described as "using a new technique of enveloping the fibrous base in between your mascara coats, the RMK Extra Deep W Mascara creates a voluminous effect like none seen before.  Thanks to its water resistant formula, RMK’s lengthening and volumising Extra Deep W Mascara keeps your lashes smudge-free all day. You start by applying a coat of mascara then use a rich coat of fibres from the fibrous base and then a last coat of mascara to set the fibres. Voila, a seductive gaze no-one can resist!"

You can see from the pics that it definitely gives a thickening and lengthening effect on the lashes and impressively so, rivalling some of my favourite mascaras.

This is the first time I have ever tried a mascara with black fibres used as a base.  They do make it easier to build real volume and the really small brush for the base coat makes it perfect for grabbing every tiny lash.  The mascara dried quickly and didn't budge all day, no flaking, no smudging.

But that is the problem with this mascara.  It doesn't budge.  I love the effect it has but it took me a good two days to get the remnants of the base fibres off my lashes! I know it's a water resistant formula but even after trying every makeup remover I own (including oil formulas), it still didn't remove all of the mascara.  I really like to completely cleanse my face of every trace of makeup each night.  I like to feel refreshed and bright eyed in the mornings but the days following my use of this mascara left me trying to pick bits out of the roots of my eyelashes and resulted in a lot of lashes falling out.  It has fantatsic results but I'm just not willing to lose loads of lashes every time I use it.  For me, it's just not practical.

I will be sticking to my favourite mascara combination of the moment...Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells as a base, then Maxfactor False Lash Effect over the top.  These are very easy to wash off with soap and water so I'll be sticking to them for the foreseeable.

Have you tried this mascara? What were your thoughts?
