Good hair and skin products

I just wanted to do another quick post before I go out to the cinema about a couple of products I have been using that have really worked well for me. The first is Lancome Hair Sensation Nutrition Intense, which I got for free in a raffle type thing at work for Comic Relief. Love getting free stuff! The product is a smooth and shine treatment and is designed to be applied to towel dried hair. I have been keeping away from my GHD's for the past 3 months in order to get my hair a bit stronger before I go on holiday in the blistering sun. This product really helps to smooth my hair and as you can see from my FOTD post, my hair looks quite straight when I use it when I've just blow dried my hair. I also use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum to 'finish' my hair, it gives great shine and it smells of apples...yummy!

Next up is a product which I ordered on the net from the USA as it doesn't seem to be available over here (please let me know if you've come across this before?). It's Alba Un-petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly. Basically Kandee The Makeup Artist mentioned this in a video on YouTube and said it is an amazing MUST HAVE product for people with dry skin. As soon as I heard that, I had to try it out as I often suffer from dry patches on my face. The consistency of the jelly is like vaseline however when you apply it and it sinks in, it's not oily at all. The best way to use it is to put it on after your moisturiser and this seals it onto your face. You wake up in the morning with skin that is so soft and smooth. It's an organic product made from plant oils and natural waxes so won't irritate the skin and also lets it breathe. I apply it every second night and I don't know what I did before this product! I really like to look after my skin, so if this is a real priority for you too, then try this product and let me know how you get on.

Amazing Haul products...

I got quite a few products online this month that I can tick off my ever growing 'I want/need' list. Firstly I wanted to find some quality make up brushes that could perform as well as the MAC ones I already have. I got two Kent brushes, a precision angled brush no.1 (£6.50) and a small domed blender brush no.4 (£8.50). I used them in my previous post (FOTD) and they are brilliant. I got them from www.lookfantastic.com. I think they are fantastic cheaper versions of the MAC 208 and 219 brushes. I will definitely be getting more of these brushes in the future! I recommend you check these out.

I also got two Prestige products...the Baked Bronzing Powder in St Tropez (on the right in pic) and the Skin Loving Minerals Powder in Pure Shimmer (on the left in pic). I was mega excited to try these after hearing loads of people rave about both of these compacts. I used them in my previous post and I was really impressed with both of them. I love the colour of St Tropez, it feels nice on my skin and is finely milled. The Skin Loving Minerals compact is my favourite though, this powder is so so gorgeous and gives such an amazing glow on the cheekbones. I couldn't get the right lighting in my last post to show how lovely it is...but believe me, if you are the type of girl who likes glowy cheeks, you HAVE to get this! Another amazing product for the dewy/glowy look is MAC Cream Colour Base in Shell. I got mine on Ebay as this colour isn't available on the UK MAC website anymore. This is such a gorgeous Colour and gives such a lovely glow to the cheeks, it's a bit more 'sheeny' than the Prestige highlighter. I have swatched both Prestige products and the MAC one below (Prestige Bronzer, Highligher, then MAC Cream Colour Base). Apologies for the complete rubbish quality...I need to get a better camera!

I will try and do a FOTD soon using the MAC Cream Colur Base to demonstrate how lovely this this. I watched a few vids by Kandee The Makeup Artist on YouTube and she had used this product on cheekbones, browbones or as a base for eyeshadow. She is brilliant, you have to watch her. It really is a multi purpose product and a colour that really would suit everyone.

Last and by no means least, I got a Lancome Juicy Tube in 'Simmer'. As I had said in an older post, I got a trial size of this product from a store in New York years ago and I used it up in about a month!I tried to get it in the UK and failed miserably! Thank god for the wonder of Ebay! I got a full size tube of it for £6. I have got it on in the pic on the left to show how lovely and natural the colour is. It's a peachy colour infused with gold and it looks just stunning with a tan.

My First FOTD (Face of the Day)

I decided that since I got so much amazing stuff in my latest two hauls, I just had to demonstrate them in photo form and I know I like to see how things look on the skin as well as in the packaging. So here is my first FOTD in my blog (obviously not my first ever as you should know by now that I'm dangerously obsessed with make-up!ha ha). I have listed below what I used for this look.

Face: MAC Strobe Liquid, Lancome La Pro Base Primer, Revlon Colourstay Foundation in True Beige, Dior Extreme Fixing Powder, Prestige Mineral Baked Bronzer in St Tropez, Prestige Skin Loving Minerals Powder in Pure Shimmer (used for highlight on cheekbones - amazing product although photo doesn't do it justice!).

Eyes: MAC Pigment in Mutiny, MAC Shroom eyeshadow (browbone and inner corner), MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow in outer crease, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack (lashline), MAC Carbon eyeshadow (lashline to blend and soften gel liner), Loreal Voluminous Macara in Carbon Black, Clarins Eyebrow Pencil in Soft Blonde.

Lips: GOSH Darling, Benefit Her Glossiness Lipgloss in 'You didn't hear it from me'.

I almost feel like a bit of a fraud because my look isn't half as professional or complicated as most of the looks people do on these blogs. However, I just wanted to show you how I wear my make-up and what products I use. It's always nice to see photos of the girls doing these blogs. Hope you liked my first ever FOTD! I will be posting something else today on the Prestige products used in this look and also other stuff I got in previous hauls.

Day 13 in Taipei: Flip Flops!!

I found that Stella Luna flat was biting my ankles yesterday when the weather gets warmer. Hopefully, they will fit perfectly after we go back to USA or at least w/ the fact that I remember they fit nicely when the first time I tried them on.

I am going to pair my zebra flat w/ my Chanel matte white reissue in 227 back in USA.

You know, in this whole trip in Taiwan, I am very impressed by local designers from clothes, shoes, to accessories ...especially our natives hand-made accessory w/ slightly touch of design. I must say, it is great to travel, just so you can be open-minded, to broaden your horizon and to experience the life, to taste everything to tingle your tougue and to appreciate everything in the world. How nice that I am in love again w/ my hometown, Taiwan. How wonderful to see a country revolving in everything.

Yesterday's ODJ.

1. TOP:
  • Zara pink tank (I think I need to buy another one, I almost wear it in every outfit.)
  • So Nice black vest w/ sheer fabric trim and back
2. BOTTOM: IROO fuchsia bubble skirt
3. SHOES: Stella Luna zebra flat
4. ACCESSORY:
  • Chloe sunglasses
  • Balenciaga Violet part-time
I should have worn necklace or earrings but guess I forgot.

Flats is always mom's favorite but I seldom wear flats, sneakers nor flip flops. I just like heels better even though I am tall enough which would look great w/ any outfit. The truth is that sometimes I even hate "flip flops".

Why?

When I was 10, my mom forced me to wear the same brown woven sandal/flip flop as my brother when we go out w/ my parents' friends. You know, when the moment I saw all the girls at my age wear pink, red, baby blue shoes I suddenly felt my feet are ugly and even I felt myself looks very ugly right there. I don't remember why I hated that brown woven flip flops so much back then but maybe that's the reason I don't like brown color in particular.....unless it is a very pretty brown IMO ...Is it a trauma?? haha..Maybe! But now it is all different, flip flop is a trend (in Taiwan) and since all the flip flops are designed so pretty, I guess the trauma of hating them are all gone by now.

See, I am looking all wet and oily on face due to the humid weather in Taipei.
ps. My dad is our chauffeur everyday... *<*hehehehe......

You know, I can't bare wearing heels today and felt like wearing slippers. There I bought two pairs of flip flops which I think they will go well w/ dresses, jeans, skirts....etc.

Finally I have flip flops to let me keep up my style. :)
