Illuminating bases for foundation

I think that if you want a really even, glowy and luminous base for your face then you need to do three things.

1) Drink loads of water - boring, I know, but your skin really is a reflection of what you put in your body.

2) Exfoliate regularly - this gives you a smooth, even base to apply your make-up. I especially like to use St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub or Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser.
3) Use an illuminating/brightening product under your foundation - this will ensure your skin tone is even, the texture of you skin will look refined and you will have a healthy glow.

I have used alot of radiance booster lotions over the years and I use a few in rotation and depending on what look I want to achieve. I use them all after moisturiser and before foundation. I have posted a pic of the ones I use most regularly. Pictured above is Olay Multi Radiance Daily Illuminating lotion which is a pearlised golden shade and a good every day staple for giving a healthy glow and has an SPF of 15. I also use Almay Glow Healthy Skin Brightener in Natural Glow, which is a pinky shade. This one has vitamin A, C, E and Aloe Vera so it's good for people who get dry skin, it also has an SPF of 15 and is oil free. MAC Strobe liquid is great for creating an ethearal glow due to the very white pearlised effect it has. It's very subtle but I definitely notice a difference when I use it. My skin just looks really bright and healthy. Revlon Skinlights Lotion in Golden Light is an old favourite of mine to pep up my complexion when I'm feeling a bit pale and it has an SPF of 15 too. It's quite dark straight from the tube but you can mix it with your moisturiser to get the colour you want. Lastly is The Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer, which is a subtle golden/beige colour. I got this about a month ago and I didn't have high expectations of it as I've never been overly keen on the Body Shop for make up. Boy was I wrong to doubt it though coz the first time I wore it under my makeup, I got 4 compliments (one from my hairdresser) in one day about how I had "a lovely glow" and they all wanted to know what I had on. This confirmed to me that thisis a really good product if you want to boost your complexion. I highly recommend this one. I have pictured below what the products look like in the same order as the photo above. Once again, not a great photo (my camera doesn't like zooming!) but you get the idea.

FOTD - Bronzed eyes

Now girls, I don't claim to be an kind of make-up guru or artist so please don't be disappointed if my make-up isn't immaculate/professional. I do the best with the products I have and as for my face, well I'm stuck with that!ha ha. I don't look particularly happy in this photo (slightly gormless actually)...but I think that's coz I am all too aware that it's a Sunday, which of course means work tomorrow! Boooo! I also still feel like a bit of an idiot taking photos of myself! It's going to take a bit of getting used to.
Anyways, down to business...I used the following products for this look:
Face: Lancome La Base Pro Primer, Revlon Colourstay Foundation in True Beige, YSL Touche Eclat for under eyes, MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer, Dior Extreme Fix Powder, Lancome Star Bronzer Compact in Dore, MAC Cream Colour Base in Shell (which doesn't show up in photo as I didn't get the lighting quite right to show the lovely sheen it gives to cheekbones).

Eyes: Clarins Eyenrow Pencil i Soft Blonde, Bourjois Liquid Eyeshdaow in Beige Metallique as a base- amazing colour, I love it! MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow on outer eyelid and along lashline, MAC Penultimate Liquid Liner in Black, YSL Faux Cils Mascara in Black. I just used MAC Cream Colour base in Shell on my browbone for a subtle sheen. The light i this photo makes the application look uneven on one eye but it was just the sunlight playing tricks!

Lips: Lancome Juicy Tube in Simmer

I think this would be a good look for my holiday and it would nice when I get more tanned! I reckon I would only use a very very thin line of black liquid liner and maybe minus the woodwinked e/s for daytime on holiday though as I wouldn't want it to look too heavy and I think sometimes a wash of one colour can be enough when you're tanned.

Hope you all had a nice weekend!
