Hipster Minute with John Wade and Joey Maalouf of Rachel Zoe Project

Say "Hipster Cheese" for Nick: John Wade (in Marc Jacobs of course) and Joey Maalouf of The Rachael Zoe Project

Last weekend, I went out with two of my favorite people, "Hipster Romeo and Juliet": My best "bud" (did I just say that?) John Wade (loving the new look!), and Joey Maalouf, who you might recognize as stylist Rachel Zoe's hair and make-up artist from The Rachel Zoe Project (it's Joeeeeyyyyyyy!!!). John has a fabulous new pied-de-terre in West Hollywood, so I had to invite myself to check it out. Afterward, we dined at one of our favorite nearby restaurants Marix Tex-Mex (the boys actually ate FOOD!!!) and gossiped at Obar. Fun times with these two LA Fashionistas! (they'll hate me for calling them that!)

FOTD: Rihanna's Red Lips

Hi Beauties!

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and best of luck to those returning to school.

Today's FOTD is inspired by Rihanna, who I absolutely adore!
I admire how on any given day she could be wearing knee high boots with a leather jacket and the following day she is super-duper glam on the red carpet. And she looks great either way!

Anyway, here it is! It's very simple but I love what RED lips do to my mood.
Lips:
Givenchy Rouge Cancan Lipstick

Eyes:
MUFE #128 Neutral Eyeshadow
L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner in Black
L'Oreal Carbon Black Mascara

Cheeks:
Illamasqua Blusher in Create

Face:
Smashbox Photofinish Primer
Make Up Forever Mat Velvet foundation
Ben Nye Neutral Set
Cinema Secrets Concealer

Hope you like!

XOXO,
Awilda

I have the BEST Mum ever!

My lovely mum, Audrey, knows my love for all things Electric Blue...dresses, tops, shoes etc. She bought this gorgeous skirt for me from Next and I love it! She knows my taste in clothes so well. The skirt has gorgeous ruffles, it has a silky lining that you can see peeking through, it has a thick elastic waist and sits about two inches above the knee. I can't wait to wear it this Friday with my black gladiator style shoe boots. Thanks mum! You're the best!

Nick Verreos attends NOH8 Event with Alec Mapa and former Miss Universe Brook Lee

One Miss Universe, An Ugly Betty actor, a Project Runway designer and a Housewife from Atlanta: Welcome to West Hollywood!
The First Runner Up Is: "Ugly Betty" Actor and comedian Alec Mapa, Miss Universe 1997 Brook Lee, and Nick Verreos @ Here Lounge NoH8 Campaign Party

Last night, I was invited to the NOH8 Campaign Party at the Here Lounge in West Hollywood and of course, I wanted to go and support! I had been taping some "secret" stuff for Lifetime Networks and headed to the Formosa Cafe to meet up with my good friends; Ugly Betty actor/comedian Alec Mapa (who was performing at the party) and my lovely Hawaiian "sister" and former Miss Universe Brook Lee. Once we were done, it was time for us to make our way over to the party.Tardy For The Party: Kim Zolciak of "Housewives Of Atlanta" NoH8 Campaign Party

There were about 20 paparazzi waiting outside Here Lounge as we arrived. I thought "Is Paris Hilton here?" No, Kim Zolciak of "Housewives of Atlanta" was hosting the event, and we quickly realized they were there for her. Once inside, we also witnessed "Tell It To My Heart" Taylor Dayne belt out some serious tunes (her voice is OUT OF CONTROL!), including an amazing rendition of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Californication" and a Michael Jackson song! And of course, Alec Mapa did a really funny--and not-so-PG-13-rated stand-up which had me ON THE FLOOR!! Duck Taped: Kim of Housewives of Atlanta's photo for NoH8 Campaign

Miss Kim did a wonderful job as MC of the event, as she showed off a HUGE new diamond ring that Big Poppa had purchased for her. I have know idea why Kim was here on the West Coast (I'm assuming she was "taking meetings with Hollywood's movers and shakers"), but all I do know is that:
A) No one pulled her wig
B) She didn't sing "Tardy For the Party"
C) She wasn't wearing "She by Sheree" (that's for you, Andy Cohen!)
D) Oh, and I had fun for a WONDERFUL cause!

MAC Prep & Prime

Hey guys, you'll have to excuse the poor quality of the photo in this post, my camera is not the greatest but I think I'm getting a new one at the end of the month. Hurrah!
I wanted to do a review on MAC Prep & Prime. As you know, I bought it at the end of last month as I was curious to see if the MAC primers could stand up to others that I have tried and loved (like YSL Matte Touch or Lancome La Base Pro). The MAC site claims it is "an ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder".

I've heard alot of people complaining of the 'glitter' in it but if anything, that's what makes this product work so well! In my opinion, it's not glitter in the primer, it's like they have mixed 2/3 primer with 1/3 MAC Strobe liquid. I personally don't think MAC Strobe liquid is glittery, it has very refined particles of shimmer which is something altogether different. If you are going to apply this product and nothing else then yes, you will look shiny. However, I use it under my foundation and it gives me exactly the effect I want...a brightened, dewy, glowy complexion. I really like the formulation too as it's not too thick and not too thin (it's like the consistency of a thick moisturiser). I use two pumps of it and that covers my whole face perfectly. My makeup goes on easily after applying the primer although it did take SLIGHTLY longer to blend which really isn't too much of a problem. It doesn't make my face overly shiny because once you have applied your foundation and powder, you can control where you want to glow. I would say that the Loreal Studio primer gives a more matte look if you prefer that and it makes makeup stay on a bit longer than this but extending my makeup wear isn't a priority for me as my foundation does that job already. I would use the Loreal primer more for a nightime look when I want real staying power and a matte base (I overheat with one glass of wine!). Otherwise for everyday use, I think MAC Prep & Prime Skin is great for a fresh look.

I think the reason why some people may not like it is because they probably prefer the matte complexion look. I personally think that skin looks it's best when it has a healthy glow and I am verging on obsessed when it comes to illuminating/highlighting products. I have tried so many primers and they normally fall into two categories...either mattifying or illuminating. This product evens out my skin tone, creates a glow and doesn't do an amazing job of mattifying but there's certainly an element of that. So I guess you could say that's it's between the two categories of primer. I really like it and will continue to use it for my daytime makeup.

By the way, if you're interested what nail polish I'm wearing in the pic, it's Sweety by Mavala.
