Damage Control!

For the last 3 months I haven't been using my GHD's in order to prepare my hair for the intense temperatures in Sicily (I'm heading off on holiday on Saturday - yipee!). As you can see from the pic on the left, my hair just kinda does it's own thing when it's not straightened! Not the tidiest mop in the world!ha ha. Beauty is sacrifice they say though! I've made a conscious effort this year to prepare my hair before I go on holiday by doing a few things. I got my hair highlighted last week to leave enough time for my hair to recover, I haven't used my straighteners in ages and I have been using strengthening treatments for the past month or so. Hopefully this will ensure that my hair doesn't frazzle on holiday like it did last year. I got the nickname "Mo" (as in Mohawk!) coz I had bits of hair sticking up from breakage. I was not a happy bunny and it took quite a while for it to grow back! So I decided to be sensible this time and take some products to protect my hair. I got Joico K-Pak Sun Therapy Travel pack which contains a shampoo, deep conditioning treatment and styling spray which all contain SPF20. I'm planning on plaiting my hair and leaving in the treatment while on the beach to give me nice beachy waves in my hair at night and protecting my hair at the same time. I am going to do a review on these when I get back and let all you girls know if the travel kit is worth re-purchasing. Fingers crossed!

If you like Coconut, you'll love this!

About 6 months ago, I was passing my local chemist with the intention of picking up some shower gel. They were all out of the Dove stuff I was using so I decided to give a cheaper brand a bash and see how it faired. I bought Inecto Coconut Oil Moisturising Body Wash for £1.39 and when I tried it that night, I was amazed at how gorgeous the product made my skin feel. It must be the coconut oil but my boyfriend raved about how soft my skin was after only using it once! My skin felt like silk. I would even say that it's a good cheaper alternative product to the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil I normally use and at less than a fifth of the price, it's definitely worth a try! After trying the body wash, I went back to try more products. I have also bought the Coconut Milk Daily Cleansing Wipes (£2.93) and the Hair Repair Treatment (£2.89). I once read that alot of Indian women put coconut oil on their hair regularly at night to get really shiny, soft hair - I can see why! The hair mask left my hair in amazing condition and although I sometimes suffer from greasy roots, it didn't weigh down my hair at all. This product is amazing value for money and I was extremely impressed. Then I tried the cleansing wipes and I have to say that it was a resounding hat trick for the Inecto products. The wipes left my skin so soft and smooth and I loved the smell. I will definitely be repurchasing these products again and again. They also do a leg scrub which is just as good, if not better than the St Ives Apricot Scrub and it's cheaper too.
I got my Inecto products from my local Lloyds Pharmacy however I know you can also get a selection of the products on www.chemistdirect.co.uk. Go try them now! You won't be disappointed.

Circles of Friends.

How many friends do you need?

I love making friends after I moved here in USA, also after I am independent from my original family. I seem cannot stop making new friends now. I would assume my mom definitely has something to do w/ it.

When I was young, I focus on pursuing my education. My mom said, you don't need many friends, just concentrate on your study, ONE day, you will make friends of your own. She also is very selective about friends around me.

So, I listened to her. I seldom invite friends home since my mom disapproved it most of the time. Then I study a lot other than my other activities which would not have to have friends involved. I guess most of Asia family is like my family. Study hard is the only way to lead you a successful life in the future.

Well, I am glad I turn into "me" just fine w/o having a social disability. hahahaha.........

And now I want to make lots of, lots of circles of friends!! I invited friends for party a lot and even my DH can't stand it sometimes. haha.....

We went to B.B.Q. at Steven Canyon in Saratoga/Cupertino city last weekend. You can also rent a kayak or bring a raft of your own to drift on the lake. I love the spot where there are lots of shades to block the sun and a great lake view to enjoy Saturday afternoon w/ friends.

It took me almost an hour to set up the fire (w/ DH's help) and I blame it to the charcoal being stored in the garage for too long and thus, too much moist. :)

My ODJ on Sat.

Even though it is summer, but it is so chill by the lake and under the shade. Thanks to Judy that she brought her portable milk foam making pot so we can drink our home-made latte while B.B.Qing marshmallow too.
