Edgy, Feminine, and Fun -- Walk Into Fall in Pierre Hardy Platform Sandal!!

I guess I will have to be vigilant whilst wearing this Pierre Hardy SKY HIGH sandals  at all times. As far as the height is concerned, it is probably the highest platform in my shoe collection.  But thanks to its chunky heels, I'd still rank it as "the most comfortable heels" among all other good-looking heels.

DH thinks I am challenging his HEIGHT in this pair!! lol.

I Have A New Makeup Crush...

and that's South African born, achingly beautiful,Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel.  She reminds me alot of a younger Cameron Diaz and has alot of similar facial features.  Candice is my current favourite because she just has something extra about her...call it the X factor if you like.  She has amazing icy blue eyes, incredible skin and VERY enviable hair.  Her make up is  always glamorous but with a very natural edge...
I love her skin tone as it's the perfect shade of golden loveliness (whether it be natural or not).  I also love the colour of her hair, a very natural light honeyed blonde.  I like the fact that her hair never looks too styled or fussy, just like her makeup.
I really like the fact that 9 times out of ten she has the natural lip shade going on, a very subtle pink or peachy colour.  This to me is makeup perfection because every feature is being enhanced without going over the top.
As with most beauty bloggers, I love the Victoria's Secret models and I love their sexy, smouldering makeup looks even more.  They always look bronzed, glowing and polished but the makeup always looks so wearable because they generally stick to browns and bronzey shades for the eyes.  There's always alot of subtle contouring and the prettiest highlights to the face.  Here's a video featuring Candice that shows how easy it is to create the amazing smouldering eye...

Yes I too muttered to myself..."damn it, she looks amazing without any make up! She must be a (beautiful) freak of nature!" ha ha.

I'm thinking my new Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Ore would be perfect for creating that stretched out golden bronze V on the eye.  The Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether could be build up in intensity to create the brighter, highlighted section of the eyelid.  I'm also thinking of including the amazing Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighter in Sea of Showers as a base under my foundation and possibly Dior Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond or Nars Albatross maybe....ooooh decisions!  Right! I'm all excited and inspired now I've thought of that so I'm going to try that out tomorrow and see if I can post some pics of that look.

What celebrity/model has inspired you to try something a bit different lately? Who's your favourite VS model?

Nick Verreos to host Macy's Fashion Director Event in PUERTO RICO this Thursday!!

OMG!!! I'm going to Puerto Rico!!!!!!

Yes, Chicos and Chicas, I am coming to San Juan Puerto Rico! Last week, I hosted the Macy's Fashion's Night Out event in Aventura near Miami (it was fabulous BTW, and I will have a recap of the entire event soon!). I returned to LA, worked on my upcoming NIKOLAKI Spring 2011 Collection for four days and now I am off to Puerto Rico! I will be hosting a Macy's Fashion Director Event and Fashion Show at the Macy's Plaza La Americas on Thursday September 16Th (This Thursday!!), starting at 6 PM. I'll also be doing various Morning Talk Shows in local Puerto Rican TV so watch out for me!

A View of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

I am SOOOO excited to be coming back to La Isla del Encanto (Island of Enchantment for the Gringos). The last time I was in Puerto Rico was back when I was at UCLA during Spring Break (long story!). I loved it then and I'm sure I'll love it now. Besides it's glorious beaches, fun people, and delicious cuisine, it's also known for...

Miss Universe 2006 Zuleika Rivera, from Puerto Rico

having some of the Most Beautiful Women in the World! Maybe one of those Miss Universes from Puerto Rico might show up (if they do I might have an Ataque Cardiaco, or Cardiac Arrest). See you in Puerto Rico!

Here are the Details:

Mondays call for sensible heels! It's always difficult to drag yourself out of bed on a Monday, so I tend to plan what to wear the night before. There is no better way to beat the morning blues than a new outfit ;).
Dress and belt: Mango. Suede shoes: D&G (notice the sensible chunky heel).

I picked this dress up in Mango this weekend. I actually fell in love with it's cute belt on a different dress (gorgeous camel colour, which is hot this season, but unfortunately clashes with my skin), so when my friend pointed this one out I had to have it ;). I love the simple, clean lines on this dress, as well as the detailing around the shoulders and the simple pleat down the front.

What are your tips for beating the Monday morning blues? I may have done another little spot of shopping this evening to cheer myself up.. but then that's my cure for all ailments ;). xxx

Illamasqua - 'The Art Of Darkness'

I woke up today to a lovely package containing 3 products from the new Illamasqua 'The Art Of Darkness' Collection.  There was a note inside from Alex at Illamasqua saying it was a belated wedding present...how lovely is that! I didn't manage to make it to the event in London at the weekend and I was gutted about that as I would have loved to have met all the other bloggers and get a first hand sneak peak at the new Illamasqua goodies.  I'm always fascinated to see what they come up with in their new collections.
The first product is the Powdered Metal in Ether, a pale metallic gold that can be used with a light hand to create a slight sheen on the cheeks or built up to create an intense look on the eyes.  I already have the Powdered Metal in Thalia and I absolutely adore it so I was REALLY excited to see this new edition.  As with Thalia, it's really finely milled and smoothes into the skin perfectly.  I prefer to apply it with a small makeup brush rather than using the puff as this can be too clumsy for the face but it's great if you're applying the product to your body (it's great on the collar bone and done the front of your legs).
The colour is just so pretty and will be perfect for mixing with my current blushes, especially the peachy shades.  I tested it out on my cheekbones today and it just gives you the most beautiful highlight that catches the light perfectly.  The great thing is that you can choose whether you want it to look like a subtle, natural radiance or build it up to create razor sharp cheekbones for a more dramatic look.  I also use the Powdered Metals by adding some to a drop of Mac Fix + to create a thin paste to apply to the eyelids like a liquid eyeshadow.  This translates into a really intense liquid metallic shine on your eyes and it's especially effective when you apply it to highlight the inner corners of your eyes.
The second product is the Pure Pigment in Ore which is an amazing golden bronze shade.  As soon as I saw this powder peeking through the little hole in the middle, I knew it was my kind of colour.  I'm obsessed with all things metallic and bronze so this is right up my street! I couldn't wait to get my paws into this and see how it swatched.
I wasn't disappointed because this product is absolutely gorgeous! The colour really is the liquid metal shine I hoped it would be and I can't wait to try out some looks with it.  I adore this!
The third and last product is the Nail Varnish in Scarab - a deep metallic red.  I'm not normally a fan of darker colours when it comes to my nails but because this varnish has a multi-faceted finish, I'm actually starting to change my mind.
This could be a really nice colour to wear in the autumn and winter months...
I want to say a huge thanks to Alex for sending these products to me since I couldn't make the event and also as a wedding present, they are all amazing!

Have you tried anything from the rest of the collection? What do you think of them?
