Accessories: Chanel Pearl Necklace, Some Floral Brooch n' Hair Clip!!

My current fav. bang from Rihanna!

Rihanna and Katie Holmes reach their big time in their signature bang and chopped bob hairstyle!

I just realized I really "need" another shorts when I am looking for ONE to go w/ Max Mara green apple top this morning. However, I already have shorts so I kick off the thoughts of "spending" again!! I assume even a tweed one won't be too hot to wear...... and maybe it would be ok w/ another wool vest on if I stay in the air-conditioned indoor!! Whatever works to get rid of a reason to spend money!!! lol

My friend, Pei, said that I look like a "boy" in the pic. the other day....hum...maybe I will look good w/ chopped bob hair-do then!! :)

MY ODJ.

1. TOP:
  • Max Mara tank top w/ twisted racer back in green apple

  • Taupe wool vest w/ strings
2. BOTTOM: Max&Co. brown tweed shorts
3. SHOES: Christian Louboutin gold wedge
4. ACCESSORY:
  • Floral hair pin
  • Rosy beige floral brooch
  • Chanel 09 s/s pearl necklace
  • Chloe 09 s/s orange Sally

See, finally my silly bang cut by myself two weeks ago grows longer and looks natural now. haha....

After done dress-up, I start playing w/ my Chanel pearl necklace. I never wanted to wear it differently until today. I wear it as Y style pedant and clip a floral brooch to hide the hook joint. I am quite content w/ this 09 s/s pearl necklace with rhinestone accent and I am still palpitating whenever I wear it.

Seriously, do I look like a guy w/ short hair?!!!! lol

You know what, I think a pair of earring is missing....that's why!! :)

Hi girlies!

Just a quick post to let you see the Korres samples I received today from the lovely people at Bath & Unwind. I was very interested to try out this brand as I've heard alot about it from other bloggers. I have labelled what they sent me and listed a more detailed description below:

Olive and Rye Night & Day Cream - Anti-ageing and firming

Wild Rose Mask - instant brightening and illuminating vitamin C mask

I can't wait to try these out and I will post a review to let you guys know how I got on and what I thought of them. Korres isn't a cheap brand so I wouldn't want to shell out good money until I know that the products are worth it.

Quick Fix: Dealing with Eyeshadow Fallout

Hi Beauties!

I know, I know. I've been super lazy with the posts lately. I'm Sowy! I'm back!

Here's a great quick fix for Dealing with Eyeshadow Fallout:

1. It's always best to start with your eye makeup and follow with foundation. This way, any fallout could be easily removed instead of ruinning your perfect foundation.

2. If you follow step 1: You can easily get a bit of your moisturizer on at a Q-tip, and sweep away any powder that fell below your eyes and on your cheeks.

3. Finish with your foundation! Voila!

Bonus: Before you begin any makeup, moisturize your face. While you apply your eye makeup, the moisturizer will have time to be absorbed into your skin. This ensures beautiful looking foundation.

XOXO,
Awilda

Foundation...How do you apply yours?

Today, out of interest, I just wanted to take a poll on how all you lovely ladies apply your liquid foundation:

1) Foundation Brush...oooh er, very professional!

2) Your fingers...mind they ain't grubby now!

3) A sponge...preferable not the one in the kitchen sink!

4) A mixture of all the above...how indecisive of you!

I personally apply mine with my fingers as I've always found that the warmth of my hands helps the foundation to blend into the skin really well. I notice that MUA's always apply foundation with a brush or a sponge on clients but I've always assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that that's more to do with hygiene than achieving the best finish.

I think one of the reasons I use my hands as well is because I get paranoid that I would be spreading germs on my face and risk an outbreak of spots if I used a brush/sponge to apply it! Plus you would end up having to clean it all the time or I would imagine it would get all gunky with dried up foundation...yuck! So my inner OCD fairy says no to the brush and sponge but I'm still curious as to why so many people DO use them...

I've never had a problem with blending my foundation when using my hands and I always get a good finish. I don't think there's a WRONG way of doing it, it's all down to preference and how much coverage you want. I have read that when you use a damp sponge, you get lighter coverage, using your fingers produces the second lightest effect and then using a brush gives the maximum cover you can get. I've never tried a foundation brush but have read that this produces the coverage required on photoshoots...which is alot!
So have you brush happy ladies noticed a difference in coverage when using it? It's like a game of beauty truth/myth!

I know they buff foundation on with brushes for photoshoots and it creates an airbrushed look but to be honest, nowadays, chances are the image HAS been airbrushed, only with computer software NOT makeup techniques. So I'm turning to a reliable source to find out the ins and outs of foundation brushes and sponges...you guys! Do you buff it in with a kabuki brush? Do you use a brush then a sponge to finish? Share the knowledge! Is it worth me investing in a foundation brush? If so, which ones are the top of your lists?

As a totally random section of the post and probably contradicting what I said about magazines airbrushing stuff...how amazing does Charlize look on this Elle cover!?...Gawjus!!!

Paradise Lost

Last month some of you may have seen the photo I posted on TwitPic looking like a smurf/ troll with crazy backcombed hair curtesy of Seanhanna salons and not my usual style of makeup. Since I have got a few messages asking to see the photos from that shoot, perhaps the craziest I have ever done, I thought I would share some of these images for a giggle.
This dress is from the ANON Autumn/Winter 2009 collection by the fabulous Andrew Martin. Andrew's collection is based on insects and includes dark, heavily structured pieces which accentuate the female form, linking to the identity of Eve within Paradise Lost.
This was definitely a lot of fun, but also quite hard work since I had to climb a tree in a dress that didn't quite cover my bottom and unsteady stilettos (pictured above), all the while 'acting like an insect', though I have pretty much no clue how an insect would act ;p.
Now to the part you are all interested in- the makeup. I have one word.. eeeek!! This monstrosity was done by Benefit, who I have never been a great fan of. They had a lovely team, with so much fun banter, but nevertheless when catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror I did just want to jump off the chair and run to wash it all off! The designer wanted us to look pale and stark, but I think the caked on foundation and dry concealer lips were going too far into the realm of the undead.

Straight after this shoot I had my hair re-styled by Seanhanna into a bigger quiff (yes it is possible) and my makeup re-done into something even more scary (and once again, please be prepared). The brief for this was basically the devil and yup.. I think I pretty much look like I am crawling out of hell with that snarl.. hehe.

Here is the dress on the catwalk. The first two shows were in the formal venue and had the makeup done by MAC (unfortunately I can't show you any photos even though the makeup, venue and presentation were beautiful). The second set of shows were more informal as they were set up for charity so my bf was able to sneak in to take some snaps.
For a close up of the makeup I am including a pic (which I know I will get into trouble for.. hehe) of us messing around at the after party. Someone hasn't quite got their pout down yet have they darling ;)?

Hope you guys enjoyed this post :).
