A Day - Well Planned!!

I signed up as a volunteer for Niel's school. His school organizes a Project Cornerstone for parents to read books to each class once a month and do some fun activities according to what book is about. I am glad that I have a parter, Mark, whose son also goes to the same class as Niel. And he is a well-experienced volunteer for school.

Today's book: "Have you filled up your bucket? "
Everyone has to write a "warm fuzzy" = nice words to the other classmate.

How does it work? If I said that I am so grateful to have you stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment. I am filling up your invisible bucket!! Then, if I have a smile/Thank-you words in return, we are filling each other's invisible bucket. We'd both be so happy!! ^O^

10:30 AM
Figured I have only 3 hours alone and should put it to good use. ^O^

I intended to leave my bag unbuttoned...but I guess I won't even dare to do that when travel to Italy this November.

Then I start putting Halloween pieces around my house... untill....... gotta go picking up Niel from school at 2 PM, and dropping off for Chinese class at 3:30 PM. Again, picking up Ilona and Heidi from school around 3:45 PM. Running errands in between, then picking up Niel at 4:30 PM and rushing from Cupertino to Los Gatos for both Niel and Heidi's 4:45 PM Piano Class. .... VROOM, VROOM ~~~~ (Of course I am, we are, late for 5 mins when we were there about 4:50 PM already.)

Anyone wants to be hired as private chauffeur?  lol

Nick Verreos Does Puerto Rico: The Macy's Fashion Director Event in Plaza Las Americas Mall, San Juan Puerto Rico!!

Bienvenido a Puerto REEEEECOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Align CenterMiss Puerto Rico: Nick Verreos and his Macy's Puerto Rico Models, Plaza Las Americas

One week ago--to the day--I went to the Caribbean Island (and unofficial 51st US State) of Puerto Rico, to host one of my many Macy's Fashion Director Events. I was SOOOO EXCITED to be coming to Puerto Rico. Why? First of all, I am half Latino and speak fluent Spanish and grew up in Venezuela--which is like Puerto Rico but in South America.

Also: This was my second time in the island. Back in my UCLA/College days, I spent a very crazy Spring Break in Puerto Rico with my College roommates and friends where I had to call my parents back home to wire me money because I had none to pay for a hotel! But this time I was going for work and actually staying in a nice hotel...

The Sheraton Hotel and Casino near the Convention Center. No beach or poker-playin' time, unfortunately. Need I remind you, I am here for Fashion and for Work! I arrived the night before my event and was surprised to see what awaited me at the American Airlines Gate:

Yummy Yummy: Sancocho

There were two people--with a whole "Soup Kitchen"-like set up--serving what I think was SANCOCHO! Now, in case you are Latin-food deficient, Sancocho is a traditional soup consisting of vegetables and (usually) large pieces of meat, served in a broth. As I walked out of my LONG flight, the entire gate was filled with waiting passengers (for the next flight I presume?) with Styrofoam bowls of the stuff. I was like "What the H***???". Welcome to Puerto Rico!!! It's like the "lei" of Puerto Rico I guess!

AM Modeling: Nick Verreos flanked by his Univision "Tu Mañana" Morning Show Models

Very early the next morning--the day of my event--I was scheduled to do an interview--and mini-Fall Trend Fashion Show with models--with the local Univision Morning Show, "Tu Mañana". When I showed up, I really had no idea what to expect and if they even knew who I was. But all that changed the minute I met my new GIRLFRIEND:

Matchy-Matchy: Nick Verreos and Nuria Sebazco, on the set of Univision's Puerto Rico "Tu Mañana"

The gorgeous "Tu Mañana" anchor, Nuria Sebazco. She went LOCA: She was like "OMG, te quiero! I read your blog..loved your Barbie! I loved you on the show..." Well, that was IT for me! I wish I had her as my every day Wake Up Alarm Clock! The interview and mini fashion show went great and I had a lot of fun with everyone at Univision Puerto Rico.

But now, it was time to get ready for my Puerto Rico "Director de Moda Evento" (translation: Fashion Director Event) at Macy's Plaza Las Americas.

We had three great Challenges, where audience members styled our models for special occasions which I came up with, such as Dressing for Puerto Rico High Fashion Week and "What Would You Wear For an Interview?".

Hug It Out: Nick Verreos and and old friend of his family who resides in Puerto Rico, Dyneli, who came out for the event

Everyone had a lot of fun--especially me--and it was great to meet the fans of Project Runway in Puerto Rico. Hopefully I can return to this gorgeous island and possibly be invited to show my Nikolaki Collection like I showed in the Bahamas two years ago at Island of The World Fashion Week. I love me the Caribbean that's for sure!

Before leaving the following morning (I had a plane to catch to host another Macy's Fashion Director event, this time in Nashville Tennessee!), I had to at least get a photo of the Hotel's pool and some "Caribbean-esque" Palm Trees. Otherwise, people would have not believed that I was even there! Sorry no Beach-y photos, but I did get to see them from my airplane window when I left. Adios Puerto Rico, Te Amo! Now, I wonder where I can get some Sancocho in Los Angeles?????

Lipstick Love + casual OOTD

Recently I have been obsessed with a certain little lippie - Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo Pink (no. 31).
How could I not be? The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, the colour is vibrant, rich and pigmented and the finish is smooth and glossy. Oh and did I mention it also smells delicious?
This has become my 'weekend lipstick'. Keeping the eyes neutral with just a little (a lot) of L'ancome Hypnose mascara I apply this with a stiff synthetic lip brush to keep the edges clean. I then take it down a notch by blotting the excess off.
As the finish is quite sheer and glossy, while the colour is intense, it also works well on the cheeks. I usually apply and blend this on to the apples of my cheeks with fingers and to ensure it lasts all day set with MUFE HD silica powder.
As my OOTDs have been mostly work related and very formal recently I thought I would throw in a little Saturday casual. With the weather turning chilly and unpredictable I decided to pull out my trusty jeggings and boots combo.
Top: Primark. Jeggings: ASOS. Boots: Faith.

Have you tried YSL rouge pure shine? What are your most loved pieces this autumn? Any lipsticks I should be keeping an eye out for? xxx

RED All Over!!

I was talking to friends about the new Chanel 10A Rouge/Orange reissue the other day but seems no one would believe that this RED is taken on an orange tint.

So here is the proof under white, florescent light.

I Had a Debenhams Voucher Burning A Hole In My Pocket....

I was meandering in town with my mum yesterday and she just loves to help me spend money...apparently it's revenge for all the money she spent on me when I was living at home!  I had a Debenhams voucher in my wallet that I had forgotten about for a while so I decided to put it to good use.
I have been looking for a pair of day-time appropriate black boots for a while now to wear with jeans, tights/skirts etc.  I was wandering around the shoe department in Debenhams and I was excited to see that they now have a collection of Dune shoes that are exclusive to Debenhams called 'Head Over Heels'.  We don't have a Dune store in Aberdeen so we have to rely on shops like John Lewis to stock the ones we like! It's always awkward ordering shoes over the net.  They had signs up everywhere in the 'Head Over Heels' section with '20% off' so naturally this attracted me even more!

After trying on a few pairs, I decided on these shoe boots...
They have a perfect sized, cone-shaped heel and are really comfortable.  They are not the most exciting shoes in my collection but they are great basics and will go with just about anything.  I really like Dune shoes because they always feel high quality and last a long time.  I already have my eye on a couple of other winter boots from the 'Head Over Heels' range.

Oh and in other news, I have decided to dress up as Jem for my friend's 80's themed party.  I have found an outfit online and also a fake mic that I am going to DIY glamify by sticking glitter and jewels to! Yah! I can't wait!

I have been making up a playlist of 80's tunes for the party and I had a huge smile on my face listening to some of the tunes.  I love how cheesy the 80's were and I think the party is going to be so much fun.  I was going on about a Scottish band, Hue & Cry, they did a song that I used to love when I was a kid, I played it for Chris and he said he'd never heard of it!!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers this tune....

Here's another one that made me smile...I can't wait to have a silly dance off at the party to this...

What's your favourite 80's tune that makes you smile? What is your best 'dance off' move?
