My E.L.F. Studio Line Review

Nick Verreos MyLifetime.com Recap and Nick and Andrae Video Blog

Return to The Big Apple...via Tim's Snow Mobile!
Is That Tim on the Snowmobile?

We are nearing at the "End"--the end of Season Six of Project Runway. Three Ladies have made it to the Finals, which is honestly what I predicted WAAAAY back. I pretty much knew Irina Shabayeva would be there since she has been consistently strong and put out some great designs challenge after challenge. I also thought Althea Harper would be there because there was something interesting about her designs which made me "sit up and take notice". I also remembered her when I was one of the judges in the Casting sessions so I was "pulling" for her. The last one was either going to be Gordana Gehlhausen or Carol Hannah Whitfield. And of course, Logan's girlfriend won out. Pant Girls: Althea, Irina and Carol Hannah

Last night's Episode, Tim visited the ladies at their homes--in Ohio, Suburban NY and Manhattan's Upper East Side. Then they made their final trek to Bryant Park via the Grand Hyatt and a makeshift workroom which looked a lot like the one back at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA.

Here are my Highlights and Lowlights:--Tim Dirty Dancing with Heidi (enough said!)
--Tim and his biscuit-making apron. Where was Paula Deen and her food-loving brother-in-law (or one of her cutie sons!) when you really need her?--Too Much Gray Ladies! What is up with all the somber colors? All their collections are looking black and grey. But, I think I did see some color from Carol Hannah (there were some baby blues peeking through the rack) and Althea (a cute raspberry dress on the form above).--Oh, poor Carol Hannah gets sick and is stressing out--until her boyfriend Logan shows up... but to help out Althea (damn you Althea, you're a man-stealer! LOL)--I am loving Irina's gown on the floor and those chunky sweaters. I think this is hers to lose. But I just love how the editors are "setting it all up" for that "It's TOO BLACK Irina" discussion, misleading the viewers to think "well, maybe it won't be Irina...."
--One more week to go and we shall see!

Notice how I paid "homage" to the outfit Chloe Dao made for me when I was "auf'ed". I love that I look like a flight attendant from some fun airline--Welcome to Nick Airways!

Bebe Presents Nicole Ritchie's Jewelry Line Launch Party

In Search Of Nicole Ritchie...
Bebe Sandwich: Nick Verreos poses with Susanne Marques of Fox11, and her friend, Bebe Rodeo Drive

Last night, I was invited to Bebe and InStyle's Launch of Nicole Ritchie's new jewelry line House of Harlow 1960 for the company, and of course, I decided to take my buddy, John Wade of Marc Jacobs as my date. I just knew he would be "giving" some fashion--and of course he was: Vintage high-waisted Levi's, a vintage YSL cotton voile peasant shirt and his YSL Johnny Boots. Yes, he made me look like Grandpa Unfashionable Nick (remind me again why I bring him along? Oh yeah, 'cause he's great company!). We headed to the party which was taking place at the Rodeo Drive Bebe store. House of Harlow/Nicole Ritchie Jewelry line for Bebe, Bebe Rodeo Drive Boutique

The bash was in full-gear once we arrived with stylish guests mingling, enjoying some delicious cocktails and bubbly Champagne as well as some hors d'oeuvres that were being passed around (the mini stuffed mushrooms were yummy!). I even noticed quite a few girls shopping and the sales staff were quite busy at the registers (good sign!). Models Sarah Deanna and Karen Manco, Bebe Rodeo Drive

I was happy to run into two of my favorite LA runway modelin' DIVAS, the gorgeous Sarah Deanna and Karen Manco. Sarah was in head-to-toe Bebe: gunmetal silver shirred one-shouldered mini--VERY MINI--dress with fuchsia pumps and wearing some House of Harlow 1960 bangles and earrings. She looked HOT! I also said "Hi" to the gorgeous Suzanne Marques, reporter with Fox11 (who coincidentally interviewed me last month when I hosted Style Week Orange County). She also looked DIVINE. Her and her girlfriends were so sweet, trying to teach me the finer intricacies of TWEETING (I'm still somewhat of a TWITTER Virgin). I was having such a good time that I almost forgot to ask "But, where's Nicole?". Well, I finally did ask and a "little birdie" told me that she had "fallen ill" and was not attending. Oh well, she missed a fun and packed party for her own jewelry launch. Hope she feels better.

Nick Verreos and US Figure Skater Rachael Flatt

Ice Capades: Nick Verreos and Rachael Flatt, and his illustrations

Back in March, I attended the World Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles at the fabulous (and very cold) Staples Center. In case you have been living under a rock--or haven't seen my Season 2 of Project Runway--I love me some figure skating! It was kind of funny to go to this event because a lot of people there recognized me. I didn't realize how many fans of figure skating are also fans of Project Runway.

The night of the Ladies Final, as I was leaving, a group of people came up to me and introduced themselves. They were Rachael Flatt's family! Rachael Flatt was the Silver Medalist at the 2009 US Figure Skating Champisonships and placed 5th at the World Figure Skating Championships just moments before. They then proceeded to call her and handed me the phone so I could say "Hello" and "Congrats!". Get me a pen and paper: Nick Verreos sketches for US Figure Skating Silver Medalist Rachael Flatt

Then about a couple of months ago, I got a call from her PR person asking if I would like to come to Universal Studios where they were holding a special Media Event to promote American athletes for the upcoming Winter Olympics on NBC. Of course, I ran over there and finally got to meet Rachael (she looked so cute in apple green and flower print dress, very "Lily Pulitzer"). For fun, I proceeded to sketch some ideas for her costumes. We were both hoping I might design her costume for this current Olympic Season, but with both of our crazy schedules, it did not work out. But it was still such a pleasure meeting her and sketching for her---and giving her some dish on Project Runway!

Lady Bug or Polka Dot!!

I could try any pattern of hosiery w/o worrying too much of age appropriate issue.lol

It seems that my friend, Julia, is so obsessed w/ defining her age w/ the proper ensembles she'd suppose to wear lately.  Why oh Why? When you have the look and the body, sometimes you just have to let go of yourself a little. Then you'd open a lot more of yourself to try out NEW things. Not just clothes, I mean, everything!!  If a person is dying, should s/he be sad and awaits for the final DAY to come?? (Oh, I know, this is probably too much of an example. But you got my idea!!) :P Ok, how about those MEN who wears heels in NEW YORK city!!? haha...Oh, I should stop saying anything more!

Fight hard to our aging and have fun w/ dressing up along the course!! You know what's already looks good on you, all you need to do is KEEP THE LENGTH (cover wherever you think is appropriate!)!! ^o^

Back to today, I assume most of moms taking kids out for bounding when there is no school today!!  :) Me and 2 other moms took kids to Golf land and bathed in a cozy winter sunshine.

You don't think we seriously played golf, do you?!!

I do like social time but not in the golf land just YET!

At this age, there are only couple things that they are so obsessed about, cars, games, and more video games!!

Me? No no no, no games, Gerber finger food is still my favorite!! ^O^

Anthropologie necklace looks its best on thin outfit!

I like the lux. look of purple n' green together!!

My ODJ.

Too Faced Palettes

Ever since seeing these palettes on Tali's blog (a.k.a The Gloss Goss), I have wanted to try them out. I LOVE the packaging with all the glittery bits on it, its so pretty! This kind of thing is totally up my street. First up, is the French & Fabulous Palette... The palette has 6 eyeshadows in it and two bronzers so it would be extremely handy for travelling and has a mirror for touch-ups. All the shadows are very wearable (you would be surprised how wearable the hot pink shade is when you pair it with one of the neutral ones). I adore the animal print look to the top bronzer, it's a unique twist on a powder...
Here's a closer look at the products inside...

I am in love with Totally Toasted Beige and Totally Toasted Brown as a subtle neutral combination for daytime. This can also be vamped up with the Ooh & Aah Black if you wanted to take the look into nightime. I thought the glitter particles in the black shade would create alot of fallout but as you will see from the swatch below the glitter doesn't show up as much as I thought it would which suits me fine as that can get messy...
I have just done the swatches in the order of the pans in the palette. The only shade I was disappointed with was the Poodle Puff Pink which wasn't as pigmented as I would like but the other eyeshadows more than make up for that! Poodle Puff Raisin is unlike any other eyeshadow I own, it's a purple toned brown but it's so easy to wear, it really surprised me that a shade like that could suit me but it does.
Here are the swatches of the bronzers...
These bronzers are fantastic quality for a palette, generally you find that when creating this type of palette, alot of brnads tend to overlook blushers or bronzers. They usually look and feel cheap but these bronzers are finely milled, smooth and buttery and very impressive. The animal print one (shown on the bottom) would actually be amazing as an eyeshadow as well. It's alot more shimmery than the top one and I would probably use this more as a highlighter than an all over face colour. The darker shade is perfect on my skin and creates a really natural golden glow without making you look orange or streaky. It isn't shimmery so it's more suitable for daytime use without looking too over the top.
Next up is the Glamour To Go III palette which is teensy weensy and so cute, this would easily fot in your pocket because it's so compact...
This palette would be great for those times when you want to take a few products on a night out to touch up your makeup but you only have a tiny bag. This palette has a top compartment with 8 gorgeous mini eyeshadow pans...
But it also has a bottom slide-out drawer with a blush and 4 lipglosses...

Once again the eyeshadows are just lovely (there are a couple of shades that look very similar if not the same as the last palette). I was alot more impressed with the pink shade in this palette as the pigmentation has alot better. The green shade on the top left is actually very flattering. I am also loving the taupe shade on the top right, this would be amazing paired with the pink! The camera really didn't do these colours justice...
Here's what the glosses look like as swatches (I will try and incorporate these into a FOTD so you can see what they look like on the lips)...
There's a pink toned lipgloss, a beige one with a metallic like finish, a red toned one and a sheer peachy natural one. Pretty much everything you need really.
LOVING the blush in this palette...such a gorgeous peach colour with a really luminous glowy effect. It just gives a natural flush to the cheeks without making you look shiny or shimmery. I always prefer satin or matte finish blushers for the daytime as they more suitable if you want to fake glowy cheeks!

I am really impressed with palettes, from the design of them to the quality of the products inside them. I love how practical and compact they are. I will be playing with loads of colour combinations this week and hope to post something else on them to show what looks I have come up with. Have any of you guys tried these yet?

Everyone should have this eyeshadow...

This product HAS to be THE most wearable eyeshadow I've ever seen before...it's Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Ruthless. I mean, maybe this is a bold statement to make but I reckon this colour would suit everyone either as a single wash on the eye or as a base colour to build on. Firstly, I love the cute cartooney packaging.... Unfortunately, the pan got shattered when I dropped it (yes, I did quietly sob and then kicked myself hard!ha ha) but nevermind, I can still use the eyeshadow all the same. Even though I do like more adventurous shades and like to experiment, I also love a neutral colour that you can just slap on in a hurry and you don't have to be precise with. Some days, I'm so tired in the morning, I just want something quick, reliable and easy to apply. This is where this gorgeous slightly frosty goldy beige comes in...(ignore the ugly condition of the pan!boo hoo)...
Some people may think that Beige equals boring but in this case, this buttery smooth, blendable eyeshadow is anything but dull! The shade is so delicate and flattering. It would be the perfect base colour for so many looks.
Here's a swatch...

I can see this becoming a firm favourite and something I will end up applying day after day.
What do you think?
