NY Fashion Week Fall 2009 Runway Videos!!--Part 2

NY Collections: Futurism by way of the 1980's and Pasadena?
Her Name Was Rio: Marc Jacobs Fall 2009/10

During this last Fall 2009/10 New York Fashion Week, big shoulders (Zac Posen) , big Ball gowns (Oscar De La Renta) and strong make-up was on parade on the runways featuring the latest offerings for Fall 2009. There were also lots of Azzedine Alaia and Herve Leger-like body-wrapping and micro minis. If one blinked, you might have thought it was 1985 Fall Fashion Week! Case in Point: The marvelous Creative minds of Marc Jacobs and Rodarte.

Marc Jacobs:
Ready To Flashdance: Marc Jacobs Fall 2009/10

His Fall 2009 Collection, which began simple enough. First, he showed grey, almost-schoolgirl cardigans with neck scarves, but then quickly went into 1980's Stephen Sprouse-meets-Duran Duran colorful coats and dresses. The exaggerated make-up and spikey asymmetrical hair styles reminded me of those Patrick Nagel paintings---all that was missing was some black lacquered furniture strewn on the stage and I would have thought I was back at my High School Prom!
Barbie-Pink: Marc Jacobs Coat Fall 2009/10

I loved it all! Jacobs featured over-sized shoulders , over-sized jackets and lots of tight tights! The Crayola-like colors--from neon-bright yellows and greens to "Barbie" pinks, were unusual for Fall, but still looked great!! The Marc Jacobs message was in-your-face and strong for Fall: Buy a neon-yellow coat and update that all-black wardrobe come Fall 2009.

Rodarte:
Wrapped Bride of Frankenstein: Rodarte Fall 2009/10

For Fall, the Pasadena, California based Mulleavy sister team of Rodarte designed a collection that almost looked perfect for the Bride of Frankenstein a la 2009. The looks were futuristic with a bit of quirky romanticism, which is becoming a Rodarte trait. Wrapped, draped and tied knit and woven tops over micro-mini skirts with high straitjacket-like leather boots.
These Boots Are Made For Walkin' : Rodarte Fall 2009/10

Each look seemed like a slight variation on the last one, with various color and draped top changes. Some thought it was a bit repetitive but that did not stop the fashionistas and fashion editors alike from going on and on about how much they just LOVED it. See for yourself.

Kids are thrilled to go out w/ their friends.

Before we went to watch 3D movie of A bugs life, kids played 3 sets of puzzles. They are so happy that they finished it. This is the time I can totally forget about doing house chores, making lunch/ dinner.

For me, I am relaxing myself w/ them too.

NARS Haul : Laguna, Torrid and Exhibit A

Hi Beauties!

I recently did a NARS haul at sephora. I got a few things and I wanted to go over my thoughts with you on them.

First: Nars Laguna Bronzer

This is soooo pretty! For me it makes me look like I was sitting out in the sun for a few hours (in the middle of the winter, lol). I can see how a lot of people have said this makes them look 'dirty' because I do have to use a light hand on this one. But overall, a small application goes a long way. It doesn't make me look orange or dirty and it does work for me. I can see myself using this for a very long time since NARS products never seem to finish. FYI, I am MAC NC40 or MUFE HD #128.

Next: NARS blush in Torrid

This is my favorite blush for the moment. I've used it everyday since I bought it! It is more pigmented than NARS Deepthroat blush and that's really why I love it. It is everything that I wanted Deepthroat to be. It has just enough shimmer and I dont have to keep layering it on so that it shows up. In comparison, Deepthroat required multiple applications which resulted in very shimmery cheeks (not suitable for my daytime look).

Lastly: NARS blush in Exhibit A.

Wow! Can you say b-r-i-g-h-t?! This was such a gorgeous color that I new I had to get it. Unfortunaly, I thought this was going to be more on the sheer side like other NARS products I've tried. Not so much! This is full on color, 100% PIGMENTATION! When I dared to try this color at home, I used my small skunk brush (MAC #188) since I thought I would be able to build the color slowly. Well, 1 brush dip of this color was way too much on my skin. I looked like a clown. lol! This color will most likely be returned because I could never really use it. BUT, If you have a dark/warmer complexion this could be your HG blush.

XOXO,
Awilda

OPI : South Beach Collection "Done Out In Deco"

Hi Beauties,

So I did an OPI nail polish haul recently on the South Beach Collection. Attached is a photo of the first polish I used : Done Out In Deco. It is a soft lavender color and it looks sooo nice on! I received at least 5 compliments from the girls at work this week!

So here it is. This is a great color and I think it would look awesome on medium, tan, olive and dark skin gals.

XOXO,
Awilda

Lilac Awakening

A fun spring look using shimmery green and purple :)
