Out and About: Nick Verreos at Palihouse

Jen Egan's Chic Birthday at the Palihouse West HollywoodBirthday Girl and Her Boys: AlphaMan's Darren Gold, John Wade, Nick Verreos and Jen Egan, Palihouse Holloway, West Hollywood

On Thursday, April 30Th, I was invited to my good friend Jen Egan's Birthday. Another good friend , Kelly Ryan O'Brien of Billion Dollar Babes-- as well as Sue Seo, Kendra Gratteri and Elizabeth Shaffer--were throwing a fabulous bash for Miss Egan at the UBER chic Palihouse Holloway in West Hollywood, an "extended stay" hotel with a great bar and restaurant known amongst the "young Hollywood" and LA fashionista circles. Besides the fact that Jen is one of most stylish girls in Los Angeles I know, she also happens to be the Vice President of National Business Development for Gen Art, overseeing and organizing the fabulous Gen Art Fresh Faces fashion show and events. Last year, she held her Birthday here and it was hit, so why not do it again in the same location. Because I was teaching that night, I arrived late and the party was well under way. In fact, we must have missed the hors d'oeuvres section of the party because little cup cakes began to passed around when we arrived (dessert before dinner anyone?). Of course, I dragged (kicking and screaming) my friend, John Wade and once we settled into the Palihouse bar, we wished Miss Jen Egan our fashionable "Birthday Wishes". Of course, she was looking like a young socialite off the pages of Vogue, wearing a little one-shoulder red silk number--effortlessly I might add.Darren Gold and California Apparel News Fashion Editor, Jayne Seward, Palihouse Holloway West Hollywood

I was happy to also see Darren Gold, proprietor of AlphaMan: Gear For Gents, one of the best men's boutiques in town, and our mutual friend, California Apparel News fashion editor and stylist Jayne Seward. Incidentally, Darren almost had a big FASHION FAUX PAS: There was another guy at the party wearing the same graphic printed t-shirt! Thank God Darren had a coat, because he used it to hide his t-shirt. He later explained that he got the shirt from a "Goodie Bag" from an event he had gone to. Obviously, so had that other guest at Jen's Birthday Party. John Wade poses with Producer extraordinaire, Rich Bye and his beautiful wife, Palihouse Holloway West Hollywood

We also were glad to see the cutest of all producers, Rich Bye of Magical Elves, who was executive producer of Seasons 1-5 of Project Runway, and in fact was nominated for 5 Primetime Emmy's! He should have definitely won for my season, I'm just saying! He was there with his lovely wife, also giving Miss Jen Egan--who has judged many a Project Runway casting in the past--their Birthday Wishes. It was a great party celebrating fashion, style and Miss Jen's infectious personality. Thanks for inviting me once again, Jen. If I am in town, I will come every year.

Pardon about the messy background!! lol

I bought this Stelle top for the look of this big BOW!! I have total 5 bows in my ODJ. hahaha....too much~~~??? Nah...I love all of them.

The silk top has pretty silhouette and so feminine. I dress it down w/ jeans today!!

The start of something beautiful...

A few months ago, I decided to search for make up tutorials on YouTube as I was having problems applying my liquid liner and wanted to perfect my technique (yes I have way too much time on my hands). I came across some videos by Lollipop26 (a.k.a. Laura) and found myself subscribing to and thoroughly enjoying her reviews, rambles and tutorials. It must be a natural curiosity within most women to want to delve into the contents of other women's make up bags and discover how they look so damn glamourous/flawless. I often used to trawl through the beauty pages of magazines to find out what products were worth spending my hard earned cash on.

I found Lollipop26's videos so useful because a) she has a look and style that I would aspire to and b) she gives honest opinions on whether products actually deliver on what they say they can do. I also liked the fact that she often gives you budget versions of different products i.e. MAC Studio Fix Fluid vs. Revlon Colourstay foundation. Every girl loves a bargain!

Through her YouTube channel, I then started to read her blogspot, which I have been religiously reading for quite a while...I felt the need to create my own blog so I could share my thoughts and experiences of products that I have been using and whether they have performed well. In light of this recession we are in, us girls need to know what products are worth spending our dosh on!

Don't get me wrong, there may be some rambly posts here and there about random stuff like clothes, shoes or basically what kind of day I've had but I think people also enjoy reading about that kind of thing...I know I do.

Friend At Work!!!

My girl friend, Cathy, works as a freelancer for La Prairie. Today is her work day at Neiman Marcus and I happen to have a chance to stop by since they have a ONE DAY DESIGNER sales too.

I adore Cathy's golden straw-like flat. The brand is Melissa which she bought at Saks.com.

She looks very lovely w/ yellow, mustard color cropped vest and ethical earrings, necklace along w/ that sparkle flat, everything is so perfectly put together.

Cathy at her facial room. I have an impulse to do facial right there when visiting her!!! haha....

I adore this flat but I know my feet won't look good in it!! *<*

She shows me couple La Prairie products they use for facial. I love La Prairie's products too. Everyone's skin condition is different but mine works great w/ La Prairie's products. I tried couple luxury items and feel instantly pampered by those.

Their popular products are Anti-aging stress cream.
This is day cream w/ SPF 30 which is sufficient sunblock for most of us
active ladies under the sun!!!

I love the big tube body sunblock which feels non-greasy at all and w/ a little tinted sheer cream. I am going to switch to La Prairie.

As for this small jar, it is a more concentrated anti-aging stress serum which costs about $600!!!

My ODJ!

1. TOP & BOTTOM:
  • Diesel jeans jumper w/ cropped bottom
  • Billa Bong fringe vest in slate
2. Shoes: Diesel Gladiator heels
3. Accessory:
  • Puma cap
  • Max&Co. ruched belt
  • Chanel pea sized resin earrings
4. Bag: Balenciaga Violet part-time bag

I am feeling strong w/ my arms lately.....thanks to Yoga & Pilate.

Cathy and I have the same fringe vest. It would be a fun element in every wardrobe.

I feel so macho ~~~
