I haven't posted nails in a while but here's 3 polishes to make up for lost time.
***I've seen a lot of the nail addicts online talking about the MISA nail polish color and decided to try them out for myself.
MISA On The Edge is what I describe as a true royal blue. The color is a creme finish and is very highly pigmented. This color could work as 1 coat but the second coat makes it's a notch better. The consistency is in my opinion a but runny but nothing that you can't manage. Overall for the price it is a decent color to add to my collection. In the summer, I will surely apply this on my toes. MISA Forbidden Lust is a shimmery raspeberry/purple color. The color is very pretty and for someone who normally would stay away from shimmer finishes, I like it. The application was also runny and a bit hard to work with. But again, for the price of these polishes it's not a bad deal. The coverage is average, 2 coats is a must. It was hard to get a good photo but here it is:
OPI Time-Less Is More is such a beautiful marshmellow color. The finish is creamy and I could see this color working for anyone. The application was phenomenal as is the case with most of the OPI colors. The coverage is light and therefore 2 to 3 coats are needed. In my photo, I have 3 coats on and you can still see some of the white. But I do love it anyway and I see myself going for this color when I'm in a 'neutral' mood. Let me know if you like these or if you already own these.
Here is a dramatic smokey eye look I tried for a fun night out. It was fairly simple since I only used a primary eyeshadow color.
Products Used: MAC blackground paintpot as a base (optional) MAC Contrast Eyeshadow on top MAC Wedge eyeshadow to help blend the color on my browbone (use a color close to your skin tone) MAC Ricepaper to hightlight MAC Embark eyeshadow to fill brows MAC Smolder to tightline MAC #7 Lashes (love!) ****repeat colors on lower lashline*****
Lips: MAC Blankety Liptick DIOR Ultra-gloss reflect # 657
End of an Era: Beautiful Gowns, Paris Castle, Gstaad Chalet, Private Yacht...and temper tantrums Last night, after returning from my trips, I FINALLY got to see Valentino: The Last Emperor here in Los Angeles. Of course, I went with my "Giancarlo", David, and our friends. The film opened last week and so of course I had been "dying" to see it. I thought the cinema would be a "gaggle" of my gays and fashionistas, especially on a Friday night in West Hollywood, no less. But alas, it was not. The theater was not even half-full and we actually had some room--and didn't feel like the non-popcorn-eating WeHo Fashion boys would be elbowing us in disgust. The documentary was AMAZING! It was a behind the scenes look at Valentino and his long-time lover, business partner and one and only confidante, Giancarlo Giammetti and their 45 years together creating the Valentino Empire. It shows the last two years, before he announced his retirement in 2008. It seems a bit "fishy" that they just happened to be filming the culmination of his career leading up to his retirement without consciously knowing they were documenting the final days. I am a little doubtful of this. Maybe "the Master" was a bit clueless but certainly NOT Giammetti.Tanned Twosome: Valentino and Giancarlo Giametti, with Gwyneth Paltrow
The film is especially candid in showing his love and power-play relationship with Giancarlo (they still snap at each other like 24 year old kids at a bar--even at 70+ years old!). They really "live the life": The castle outside of Paris, the private plane and the Warhol-like museum of a private yacht. While the film shows Valentino going on and on about how "hard he works", of course, the film cuts right to him in his Gstaad Chalet skiing and relaxing with his Pugs...Life is ROUGH I tell you! If only we all had it that bad!Add a volant (flounce/ruffle)..no take away a volant...add crystals...NOW! The famous white gown from "The Last Emperor", Spring/Summer '06 Haute Couture
The movie chronicles 2 of his last Haute Couture Collections. It gives you a behind the scenes look at his Atelier. I especially loved the snippy Directrice; you don't want to mess with an irate Italian woman! When you see the film, notice how there are NO sewing machines in an Haute Couture Workroom. Every single suit, gown, skirt is made by hand. This is why an Haute Couture gown by Valentino could cost in the $100,000 range. After using $500/yrd fabric, 200 hours of handwork, countless private fittings and the fact that you are probably THE ONLY woman in the world to own it, this is the result of such an outrageous price tag. Valentino Red: The other gown featured in the film "Valentino: The Last Emperor"
Valentino was very lucky when he began his career back in the 60's, since there is NO WAY a designer in 2009 could create an Empire on his own, the way he did back in the day--without the help of a multi-million dollar conglomerate/backer. If there was anything to take away from the film it is exactly what the title suggests, that this was the end of an Era.One Time Only: Designer Alessandra Facchinetti watches as her first and only Valentino Haute Couture Collection made its debut in Paris (Heidi Klum wore this gown to host the Emmy Awards)
After Valentino retired, the owners brought in Alessandra Facchinetti, who designed what was considered a fabulous first Haute Couture Collection, and was taking the House ofValentino in a more "modern" direction. But unfortunately, she was dismissed unceremoniously. after just one season, she was replaced by two of Valentino's Accessories Designers (who had worked under him for over a decade). So obviously, even though he is retired, the hand of "The Last Emperor" is still involved--even though it is from his Chalet in Gstaad! To see the movie check the official Website for added dates and cities HERE. Here are the two Valentino Haute Couture Runway Shows-- that were featured in the film for your enjoyment: Spring/Summer 2006: Part One
Part Two: Fall 2007 45TH Anniversary Show: Part One
I have been reading white-washed denim blazers are so popular in the magazine. It is not easy to pull off the look of washed-white denim blazers or jackets. I don't want to end up looking like a janitor nor a contractor. Neither would I want to wear a super short shorts nor a mini skirt to go w/ it, that style is just too cliche!! I'd need more creativity to pair my denim blazer w/.
So I think some strong color will break the kick back imagines and some feminine touches will add a sophisticated look when wearing the denim blazer. Here is the ensemble I came up w/ from my wardrobe. Now I have convinced myself once again that I bought this super hot, originated from Seattle's designer, Chris Benz, navy distressed shirt is so versatile and classic.
My ODJ.
1. TOP:
Taupe tank made in France
H&M floral print pink bustier
Miss Sixty light denim blazer
Chris Benz Navy cropped bias cut shirt
2. Bottom: Diesel low waist white jeans 3. Shoes:
Diesel gladiator heels (today I exchange the laces w/ black sheer ribbon)
Every single CC logo loops into each unique Camellia flower. The colors are so vivid which make each CC logo and camellia so adorable. I love those pastel colors in spring and I am going to use it to jazz up my understated ensemble. For clothes, I am still stick w/ my luxury item ban !!! Well, except for Chris Benz navy silk military inspired shirt/jacket I bought month ago. I personally think it is well worth the strike.
So I am still doing mix-n'-match w/ clothes inside my wardrobe. I do have new acquisition but none costs me an arm and a leg so far!!!
